Laramie League of Women Voters The League of Women Voters of Laramie was formed in 1953. We welcome a diversity of opinions and encourage discussion of the issues on this page.

We are located in the Wyoming town where, in 1870, the first woman's vote was cast under Wyoming's general and unconditional female suffrage that also guaranteed women the right to hold office. We will be posting news, stories, ways you can get involved and other great information but will screen public comment carefully.

The League of Women Voters of Laramie is showing of the film “Iron Jawed Angels” at 4 pm, Thursday August 20 at the Albany County Public Library.

This free movie event is being held in honor of the 106th anniversary of the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote in August of 1920.

This 2004 film is an American historical drama focusing on the American women's suffrage movement during the 1910s and follows women's suffrage leaders Alice Paul and Lucy Burns as they use nonviolent tactics in the fight to grant women the right to vote, and the backlash they received.

It reminds us of the sacrifices women made to gain the right to vote and the importance of voting in this election year.

All are welcome! Bring your self and invite a friend too and enjoy time with the League of Women Voters of Laramie community!
