WELCOME | The UW Foundation is excited to welcome Brad Nelson as a new Senior Director of Development.

Originally from Minnesota, Brad played football at South Dakota State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, before completing his master’s at Gonzaga University. He brings 10-plus years of fundraising experience across higher education and nonprofit organizations.

“There’s a strong sense of pride and momentum at the foundation and across Wyoming—people truly show up for each other. I’m excited to be a part of that energy and help drive continued success.”

In his role, Brad will work closely with the College of Health Sciences and connect with alumni and donors. He will focus on building relationships and advancing support for programs, faculty, and students.

“I’m excited to build relationships across campus and work with donors to align their passions with UW’s priorities.”

Please join us in welcoming Brad to the UW Foundation—we’re glad to have him on the team!

“The University of Wyoming has shaped me into the person I am from the moment I first stepped onto Prexy’s Pasture as a student. I quickly realized I had found a home in the people, culture, and shared sense of purpose. Being able to teach UW students at the same university that gave me that sense of belonging has been one of the greatest joys of my life. They continue to give me hope for the future because UW is shaping not only exceptional leaders, but incredible human beings.

The support of my colleagues, along with the values we teach through the Daniels Fund Ethics Principles and the Cowboy Code of Ethics, has profoundly influenced who I am as both an educator and a person. Receiving the 2026 Ellbogen Meritorious Classroom Teaching Award and the College of Business IMPACT Award in 2024 and 2025 was incredibly humbling, and I’m grateful every day to be part of this university.”

During her commencement remarks, Carol Tomé reflected on the values that continue to guide her leadership: “I believe any good leader has a servant’s heart—always putting those around them first in everything they do. For me, serving to create is about investing in people so they can reach their highest potential. Investing in people and watching them grow makes my heart sing.”

Carol and Ramon Tomé have pledged a transformative $20 million investment that will expand opportunity for generations of UW students 📣🤠

Alison Doherty has been named a recipient of the 2026 UW Foundation Stewardship Awards 📣🤠

“Alison has helped build the path to giving for those who are open to supporting this cause,” says Jonathan Fox, a professor emeritus in the Department of Veterinary Sciences and Doherty’s nominator. “Donors are mainly dog owners, especially those who have lost dogs to CD. They often have no affiliation with UW but give because we are the only group researching something they want to support.”
