You are invited to attend the Albany County Genealogical Society (ACGS) meeting on Tuesday, June 9 at 6:00 pm, Relief Society Room at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3311 Hayford Ave. Our program will be a recorded webinar, “Getting to Know Findmypast - Your Source for British and Irish Genealogy”, by Jen Baldwin. Guests are always welcome at our meetings and programs.

If your family has origins in the British Isles, Findmypast is a resource you should be utilizing! Learn about our incredible British and Irish collections, the advantages of using global newspapers, and get a glimpse of the new PERiodical Source Index (PERSI).

Jen Baldwin is a professional genealogist and Data Acquisition Manager, North America at Findmypast. Her focus areas include the Western United States, gold rush history, fraternal societies, and using technology and social media in family history. She has authored a number of Genealogy articles, and is a regular contributor of the online family history community. She is a volunteer for the War of 1812 Preserve the Pensions fundraising effort, and the Larimer County Genealogical Society (CO).

You are invited to attend the Albany County Genealogical Society (ACGS) meeting on Tuesday, May 12 at 5:45 pm, Relief Society Room at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3311 Hayford Ave. Our program will be a live webinar. “Planning your Visit to the Family Search Library”, by Debbie Gurtler. Guests are always welcome at our meetings and programs.

Debbie is presenting to help us to plan and prepare for a visit to the main Family Search Library in Salt Lake City and how to schedule personal assistance during a visit. She will also share what is new at the library, what has changed, updates on digitization and other helpful information. Please bring your questions!

Debbie Gurtler, AG®, graduated with honors from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Family History. She has made research trips to Spain, Portugal, Virginia, and North Carolina. She is employed by FamilySearch as the Assistant Director of the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City. Fluent in Spanish, she can also read genealogical documents in Portuguese, Italian, and French. Debbie holds five AG® credentials they include the U.S. Mid-South region, Spain, Mexico, Chile, and Portugal.

Join the Wyoming Women's History House Wednesday, April 22, for their next Sip & Savor Spring Wyoming History program "The Great Depression in Albany County", by Judy Knight. You may have heard the family stories, but now you can hear about the experiences of Albany County residents as they lived through this historic period in the 1930s. Doors open at 3:45. Refreshments will be served at 4:00, and Judy's presentation will begin at 4:30. As always, this event is free but seating is limited.

Receptions for Sip ‘n Savors begin at 4:00 p.m., with speakers taking the podium around 4:30.

Guests are always welcome at our meetings and programs.

Glenn has shared his genealogy expertise to us many times, and this class provides an in-depth exploration of the genealogical resources available at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Participants will learn how to identify, locate, and access federal records crucial for family history research, with a focus on both online tools and in-person strategies.
