Feeding Laramie Valley Feeding Laramie Valley projects support their mission to help get fresh produce to more people. Our motto is: "Sharing the best of what we have."

We are community based and community led, with the majority of our efforts made possible by volunteers. In the Summer, FLV hosts a free lunch program for kids, we collaborate with the Unviersity on multiple projects including Gardens for Health and Healing, FLV puts on the annual Higher Ground Fair in Laramie and work with numerous AmeriCorps VISTA throughout the entire year. From July through Sep

tember, we are at the Laramie Farmer's Markets every Thursday and Friday from 3 - 7 p.m. accepting produce donations from your own garden or from something you purchase at the Market while you're there. Food is then distributed to where it's needed most.

Such a special summer. According to the calendar, we still have a month more of it to enjoy. But here in Laramie, the children and teens return to schools and schooling early next week. At Kids Out to Lunch, we'll celebrate what we've shared over the last few months with our annual Kids Out to Lunch grilling fest. While the bees crowd around the mint leaves and pollinate the brave little gardens at the Feeding Laramie Valley building, the rest of us will feast on one final menu together before the season changes.

Enjoy the final free days before school starts at Feeding Laramie Valley's Kids Out to Lunch in LaBonte Park, now through Friday, August 21 - 11:30 - 1:00! Visit and share in our welcoming indoor dining room, relax on the covered front porch or at a picnic table in the park. Our fresh-cooked meals are different every day, and so is the fun. Free to ALL kids and teens through age 18 (adults accompanying kids welcome to eat too - $3 suggested donation). No reservations needed - just show up! 🤝 WE NEED YOU! (+ Meet the local heroes keeping our kitchen open!)

Yesterday, we shared the amazing news that Kids Out to Lunch is reopening this Friday, August 7! Today, we want to introduce the incredible local cooks who stepped up at the last minute to make it all possible.
Please give a massive community welcome to Bren and Steven Lieske! 🥳

Bren is a familiar face to many, having cooked for local affairs in Harmony, the Laramie Soup Kitchen, and UW’s Washakie Dining Center. She's been a volunteer and community partner with Feeding Laramie Valley since its inception, and grows most of her own vegetables at home! Her husband, Steven, brings fantastic experience cooking for a ski area and a natural food restaurant called Murfs in Portland, Oregon.
The ultimate dynamic duo: Bren grows the veggies at home, and Steven cooks them up! We are honored to have their talent in our kitchen.

To support our new cooks and make these next two weeks a success, we need extra hands in the kitchen and dining area from August 7 to August 21!

Kids Out to Lunch (Feeding Laramie Valley) — Today’s Update

Our search for a temporary, part-time chef is actively continuing, but we have not yet filled the role. Because of this, our lunch service remains paused. We refuse to give up on our kids just yet.

We are extending our hiring search through the week. If you or someone you know has commercial cooking experience and can help us feed local families for the next three weeks, please review our job description pinned to the top of our page and message us immediately.

We want to give our families certainty. We will make a final, official decision on whether the program can resume for its remaining weeks this Friday morning.

Hiring: Part-time Chef / Kitchen Lead (Feeding Laramie Valley – Kids Out to Lunch, 968 N. 9th Street, Laramie, Wyoming)

We’re urgently seeking an experienced part-time Chef / Kitchen Lead to help us run Feeding Laramie Valley’s Kids Out to Lunch program for the next 14 weekdays (M–F, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM). If you can cover any day(s), we’d love to hear from you.

USDA + Health Department Requirements:
Must meet local and state health department standards.
Must understand and follow USDA portion sizes and creditable food rules.
Comfortable completing daily production and menu crediting logs.
FLV staff will be on-site and available for training and guidance
with program details.

Lunch is free for all children and teens through age 18.
We purchase/provide all food; meals are prepared in our kitchen.
Volunteer assistants help with food prep, dining room setup, serving, and after-meal cleanup.
Pay/Stipend: $100/day stipend (total $1,400 for the full 14 days).
Paid once we receive grant reimbursement in early September.

Kids Out to Lunch (Feeding Laramie Valley) — Today’s Update
As planned, our Kids Out to Lunch Summer Lunch Program pause began two weeks ago due to a staffing change, and today was our planned restart date. We are not able to return to lunch service today.

We know kids and families count on these meals and we’re sorry for the disruption. We are working to secure interim staffing and confirm the restart plan for the remaining three weeks.

Next update: 7:00 AM tomorrow, when we’ll post whether lunch can resume and share the confirmed schedule for the remainder of the program.
