Protecting Our Community Spaces

We are saddened to share that the Jackson Street Community Garden has recently experienced several acts of vandalism. Locks have been cut, plants have been stolen, and individual garden plots have been damaged.

Our community gardens are a labor of love. We take great pride in creating beautiful spaces where everyone in LaPorte County can access fresh, healthy produce for free. While it brings us joy to provide this resource, it is deeply disappointing to see these spaces mistreated.

We are asking for your help to keep our gardens safe and thriving. If you see something happening in our gardens that shouldn’t be, please say something.

How you can help:

Thank you for helping us look out for one another and for these vital community spaces. Together, we can make sure LaPorte stays well-fed and well-loved.

Gardening season is officially here!

Our gardens are just planted, but they'll soon be growing fresh vegetables! That means our Share Tables at the Jackson Street Community Garden and the Brighton Street Green Space will be ready for action.

This summer, if your garden is producing more than you can use, bring your extra harvest to share with your neighbors. There are Share Tables at both gardens.

We want to make sure that nothing goes to waste in your gardens and ours!

Did you know that for many families in Indiana, SNAP benefits only last about 13 days each month?

That leaves more than two weeks during which parents are often unsure how they’ll keep their kids well-fed and well-loved. That 'gap' is exactly where the Pax Center steps in.

We’re here to bridge that 17-day stretch with a pantry that offers choice, dignity, and fresh food—so no one has to go those last two weeks empty-handed.

If you want to help us close that gap for our neighbors in LaPorte County, you can partner with us here: www.thepaxcenter.com

Today some of the senior members of the La Porte Student Athletic Council presented a donation to the Pax Center of La Porte. This money was part of what was raised during last fall's Trick or Treat Night!

In May, our community came together in a big way.

Across 13 pantry events, we served 251 households at the Pax Center food pantry: 747 of our neighbors were kept well-fed and well-loved last month alone. So far this year, your support has helped provide enough groceries for 3,697 people in LaPorte County and beyond.

We are so grateful for this community, and for the way you look out for one another. If you would like to partner with us to keep this mission going, you can donate online at thepaxcenter.com.

Every bit helps take a little off our neighbors' plates.
