As a club we want to congratulate all of the members who were elected officers as of last night. These members have put in continuous years of hard work and dedication to the club and all of our projects. Without these members our club would most likely not function nearly as well, and we are looking forward to another great year of helping our community.

Door Village Lions were again able to bring cases and cases of food to the La Porte Salvation Army through the ongoing Lions Candy Day collections at the La Porte Post Office. Each year for more than 20 years, members conduct thier semi annual Candy Day Sale at the Post Office, and each year in May they donate all proceeds from the sale to the Salvation Army Food Bank. And this year, just lke clock work, it was DeJa Vue all over again. Project Chair Lion Cindy Fischer scheduled all the time slots for Friday and Saturday collelctions, confirmed the club had sufficient candy for the two days, purchased more if necessary, and spent the two days assuring each of two hour shifts were covered and collected the proceeds at the end of each shift. This year the proceeds were under $700, so at the next club meeting members voted to round it up to $700. Lions Bonnie Olson and Sue Kaiser then proceeded to purchase items suggested by Salvation Army Food Bank Coordinator Linda Neess, and with help of Lions Gene Flickinger, George Morley and Cindy Fischer, delivered the several cases of food to the always grateful Linda Neess. Members each and every year express their sincere hope that those who are in a position of need can benefit from their work on this project and know that Lions really care; because Lions sole purpose is to serve others.
