Please help us welcome one of our newest members, Nest Community Shelter!

Nest Community Shelter is La Porte County's only emergency shelter for men, women, and women with children. The Michigan City location operates year-round and is at 1001 W. 8th Street. Their mission is to reconnect their guests back to their community.

Nest also operates a cold-weather emergency shelter in La Porte, known as Nest La Porte, that typically runs from October through April.

Culver’s Day of Giving for Deputy Jon Samuelson

On Thursday, June 11th, the Culver's restaurant in La Porte will be donating 50% of all sales for the entire day to Deputy Jon Samuelson.

The Culver's of La Porte partners with over 100 non-profit organizations per year for fundraising events, with a particular focus on food banks, the FFA and the Salvation Army. These local partnerships are driven by La Porte Culver's operating partner, Bill Romstadt. Bill is also Deputy Samuelson's father-in-law.

After 10 years of giving back to the local community, this event has a personal connection.

Please consider dining at Culver's on June 11th and 50% of your bill will be donated to Deputy Jon Samuelson.

Congratulations to Grand Heritage Federal Credit Union on the ribbon cutting for their new location at 191 N. Madison Street in NewPorte Landing this morning. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate and enjoy some delicious donuts and lemondade.

Grand Heritage Federal Credit Union established locally in 1956 has convenient hours, Monday-Friday the lobby is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., drive-thru opens at 8 a.m. and on Saturdays the drive-thru only is open 8 a.m. to noon.

Yesterday our Executive Director had the honor of speaking at the Data Centers & Incentives Bootcamp presented by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Economic Development Association, and the Northwest Indiana Forum.

Industry experts, legislators, elected officials and community leaders came together to discuss important questions that will help communities move forward with shared understanding and stronger coordination when it comes to data center projects.

That's a wrap on the 2026 LEAP Olympics! People's Choice Volleyball was a hit with 11 teams competing for the trophy. In the end it came down to our top two overall teams and BOSS Industries came out on top! 2nd through 4th place are as follows:
2nd Place: Jaeger-Unitek Sealing Solutions Inc.
3rd Place: Horizon Bank
4th Place: CLH, CPAs & Consultants
5th Place: La Porte County Family YMCA
