5-28-26: Late spring brings alliums, delicate columbine, and vibrant irises adding color and texture throughout the landscape, while the sweet fragrance of lilacs drifts through the air. Master gardeners are busy planting annual seedlings that will soon fill the beds with even more brilliant color. Excited to see what the summer perennials will be displaying in the weeks ahead.

Workday at Suncrest Garden had its challenges, with chilly weather and intermittent rain, but the Lapeer County Master Gardeners still made great progress opening the space for the season. The day was filled with weeding, mulching, and transplanting trees and shrubs.
A special thanks goes to the more than 20 students from the Agriscience and Horticulture program at the Education and Technology Center who came out to help. Their energy and hard work made a huge impact. Thank you for helping make this garden such a special place.
