Lapeer County 4-H 4-H is a positive youth development organization where young people are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. territories.

4-H Youth Development programs are located in all 83 counties in Michigan. Each year, nearly 250,000 youth and 24,000 adult and older teen volunteers from major cities, suburbs, towns and rural communities participate in 4-H. Nationally, 4-H youth programs involve more than 5 million young people from all 50 states and many U.S.

The Michigan 4-H Foundation is pleased to offer new scholarship opportunities to Michigan 4-H members for fall 2026. Nearly $30,000 in scholarships will be awarded to outstanding 4-H’ers for the 2026–2027 academic year.
These scholarships are made possible through generous support from 4-H alumni, retirees, and friends of 4-H.

Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP) is excited to offer “Scrub In! A 1-Day Nursing Camp,” a free hands-on healthcare career exploration experience for all upcoming 9th-11th grade students in Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties who are interested in learning more about nursing careers.

Students will participate in activities including:
CPR and first aid instruction
Learning how to check vital signs
Patient care and assessment activities
Infection prevention demonstrations
Conversations with Registered Nurses and healthcare professionals
Local camp sessions include:

July 9, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Sanilac Career Center
July 23, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Tuscola Technology Center
There is no cost to attend.

🐻Fred the Bear Found His “Furever” Home! 🐻

In the fall of 2025 Fred joined the MSU Extension staff as a donation for the 2026 4-H Annual Fundraiser Auction. Upon learning how well Fred fit into our office, Jim Novak of The Bells Event Center, Almont and host to the Auction bought Fred and then generously donated him to our office.

We are “furever” grateful for this kind gesture and we welcome everyone to stop by and meet Fred the Bells Bear. He would be happy to share information about 4-H and MSU Extension activities.

Lapeer County 4-H collaborated with Almont District Library in May to teach kiddos about backyard bugs. Last Saturday we leaned about butterflies and created these beautiful colorful butterfly houses to keep butterflies warm and dry. 🦋
