Jennifer Shufelt - Secretary/Treasurer

Jennifer (Mountain, WI) has been a frequent visitor to the area for over a decade and relocated permanently in 2021. Jennifer is a Senior Manager for Medical Device & Combination Product Technology at Pfizer. She earned a B.A. from Lake Forest College and an M.Div. from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jennifer is President of Infinity Healing, and she uses her empathic and intuitive gifts as a healing arts practitioner, counselor, and coach currently seeing clients at Amoterra in Townsend by appointment. Jennifer has many hobbies, which include silversmithing, quilting, reading, and entertaining family and friends.

Kaitlyn Ashbeck - Director

Kaitlyn (Shawano, Wisconsin) is originally from the Wabeno area and is a former co-owner of Ashbeck’s One Stop. Kaitlyn went on to earn her paralegal certificate from UW-Stout, a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UW-Green Bay, and as of March of this year, two certificates and a Master's degree in Management from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA! Kaitlyn is very active in the Shawano community and has experience organizing galas with hundreds of people, community outreach walks, and with marketing for a state-wide missing persons advocacy program. She looks forward to giving back to the communities she grew up in, and serving as a great addition to the Maple Place team!

Tamaney "Sam" Augustin - Director

Sam (Cavour, Wisconsin) is originally from Greenville, SC, but moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 2000. She has been a part of the Forest County area (Cavour) since 2006 and moved there full-time in 2017. She loves winter and the way of life in the Northwoods and is a computer geek who loves books, all kinds of music, and helping people learn things that they didn't think they were capable of. She keeps busy in local town government as Clerk for the towns of Caswell [Cavour] (elected) and Armstrong Creek (appointed); Vice-Chair for the Forest County chapter of the Wisconsin Towns Association; Town Advocacy Council Ambassador Program (appointed); and Co-Director, District #8 - Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association.

Christina Leuzzo - Director

Chris (Townsend, Wisconsin) became a resident of Townsend in 2019 and immediately fell in love with the area. Prior to that, she lived near Duluth, Minnesota for 29 years, where she and her husband raised their children. She is a local real estate agent, as well as an Occupational Therapist at a skilled nursing facility. When not working, she enjoys hiking, photography, gardening, spending time in nature, kayaking, walking her dogs and spending time with her family.

Barbara Javoroski - Director

Barbara Javoroski (Green Bay, Wisconsin) is a resident of Green Bay but considers Laona as home. She is a married mother of two daughters and a proud grandmother of three. She has worked from home for the past 15 years as an independent contracted employee. This has allowed her to be available to care for her family - her pride and joy. Her skills include organization, interpersonal communication, and problem solving. Her goal is to assist in any way possible to ensure that Laona grows for all future generations.

The Wabeno Area Players invite you to laugh your socks off and shed a tear with the actresses of the play, Steel Magnolias. Robert Harling’s comedy drama is a beautiful tribute to friendship, community, and the power of the human spirit. The Players will perform this classic play about feisty, truth-telling, vulnerable Southern women from the 1980s, at the Nancy Volk Auditorium in the Wabeno High School on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at 7:00pm and Sunday, April 23 at 2:00pm.

James Adamczyk (Townsend, Wisconsin) is a retired teacher, retired truck driver, active husband, father, author, homesteader, and keeper of cats. He is also a board member of the Lakes Country Public Library.

Carla Connor - Fundraising Director/Safety Coordinator

Carla Connor (Laona, Wisconsin) is a domestic engineer and caregiver and has worked with interpersonal communication, in-person social networking, volunteerism, community betterment, and community development as a private citizen for many years. She is the mother of four adult children and grandmother of fourteen, with another due in March of 2023. Her skills include interpersonal communication, landscaping, interpersonal networking, and “street smarts” know-how. Carla is a “jack of all trades,” able to apply her skills in manual construction and labor as much as her skills in social interactions. She is actively involved in a multitude of volunteer organizations, all of which support community development, preservation, and interconnectedness. Her goal is to keep Laona viable, whether through serving on the Laona Area Rescue Squad (over 30 years), teaching CCD (6 years) or currently assisting teaching (5 years). She has a love for the outdoors, gardening, cross-country skiing, reading, and crocheting, but most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren (who call her “Crazy Gramma Carla”). Carla has been involved with the restoration of the Connor Lumber and Land Company Store from the very beginning of its purchase prior to Maple Place in 2016.

Linda Adamczyk - Decoration Director

Linda Adamczyk (Townsend, Wisconsin) is a wife and mother of two sons. She has had several occupations over the years, from having a private cleaning service, working as a mail carrier for Townsend and Lakewood, to working at the Townsend Shell deli. She also works for Marilyn’s Greenhouse seasonally since 1985. Currently, she holds an elected position on the Townsend Town Board since 2013. She has been involved with many fundraiser projects over the years and continues to volunteer when time allows.

Kenzie Carlson - Vice-Chair/Grant Administrator

Kenzie Carlson (Crandon, Wisconsin) works with Maple Place to secure grant funding. Her goal is to assist Maple Place in raising enough capital to restore, repair and maintain the historic 1914 Connor Lumber and Land Company. Her first grant writing experience was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, East Africa. This experience propelled her into the world of community development and the power that can be achieved when individuals work as a team. She currently resides in Crandon with her husband and young son.​​​

Phil Adamczyk - Executive Director/Chair

Phillip J. Adamczyk (Antigo, Wisconsin) is the Executive Director and current board Chair of Maple Place Inc., as well as its Grant Development Director. Phil is a licensed massage therapist and the owner of Amoterra, a wellness center based in Townsend, Wisconsin, and has run his own business since 2013. He has had experience in education, health and wellness, business, accounting, and organizational management since 2009, having run and managed a holistic wellness center in La Crosse, Wisconsin while completing his Bachelor of Science in secondary English and history education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Phil also serves as the secretary and treasurer of the Laona Area Chamber of Commerce. Phil brings to the table his skills in education and educational development, secretarial organization and bookkeeping, business organization, business management, accounting and finances, and interpersonal communication, as well as his knowledge of technology, information systems, marketing and advertising, and social media communication. Phil's passion for history and desire for community-mindedness, as well as his dedication to economic and social development, drive him to constantly seek to better himself, others, and the communities of which he is a part.
