Lansing Chapter members have been busy honoring DAR Day of Service on October 11. During the past two weeks, the chapter has rededicated the grave of Revolutionary War soldier Martin Dubois, marked the grave of Past Regent Fannie Fitch Cummins, cleaned graves in the Fitchburg and Gunnisonville Cemeteries, and attending the Michigan Dunes Chapter's marking of the Native American Burial Section of the Pentwater Township Cemetery.

During the Dubois service, DAR of Michigan honored chapter member Allison Findlay with an Historic Preservation Medal for her work over a three year period of restoring the abandoned Dubois Cemetery.

Lansing Chapter celebrated the 140th anniversary of Statue of Liberty at their October meeting. Liberty Lynn (Johnson) graced us with her presence.

Another one in the books! Lansing Chapter’s float was well received at the 79th annual Ox Roast Parade. Many thanks to all our members who made it happen, and a big thank you to the HODAR who pulled the float, the HODAR who built the boat, and the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) who got the boat across the Delaware. Until next year……

Members of the Lansing Chapter participated in the annual St. Johns Grand Mint Parade on Aug 8 with a float depicting 3 scenes - John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin editing the Declaration of Independence, Washington crossing the Delaware, and Betsy Ross & helpers working on the 13 stars (Betsy Ross) flag.

Organized by the Lansing Chapter, a public reading of the Declaration of Independence was held on July 8 at the Ingham County courthouse in Mason Michigan. The program featured appearances by historical characters, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Martha Washington and Betsy Ross, adding a dramatic and educational dimension to the event. More than 150 attendees gathered at the courthouse, including representatives from three television stations covering the ceremony. Participating organizations included the Lansing Chapter, Ephraim Chapter, SAR, the Mason area, Historical Society, and the Looking Glass Chapter Colonial Dames 17th century.
