We had a great night out listening to Michigan Department of Natural Resources present on the habitat work they are doing in the region followed by a cold but successful woodcock walk at Rose Lake. Thank you to Michigan Wildlife Conservancy for hosting our social hour and DNR presentation.

A Life Devoted to the Outdoors

“I think that just about anybody I’d like to go hunting and get paid for it,” Jim Foote once said—and for over 50 years, he did just that.

From pioneering waterfowl research and carving world-champion decoys to painting grouse scenes and raising millions for conservation, Jim Foote’s legacy is deeply rooted in Michigan’s wild places—and in the heart of RGS & AWS history.

Now, his lifelong contributions have earned him a well-deserved place in the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame.
