American Legion Department of Michigan Legion Riders

American Legion Department of Michigan Legion Riders To inform members and interested future members of the happening of Legion Rider Groups through out Michigan military personnel killed since Sept. 11, 2001.

American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children's hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded servicemembers and scholarships. Since 2006, Riders nationwide have participated in the Legion Legacy Run, to annually raise money for the Legacy Scholarship Fund, established to provide scholarships to children of U.S.

Good evening all. I was reached out by a chapter in the UP about the Legacy ride for next year. We have done multiple runs around the lower peninsula. We have made one trip to the UP one year.

This is the thought for the route.

Starting point at Post 5 in Ironwood, riding up to Post 349 Lake Linden and then back down to the Indian Casino outside Escanaba for the night.

The next day make a short stop in Gladstone (morning bathroom break) then the roundabout way to Newberry for lunch, then up past the Falls & Paradise with another in-direct way to Post 3 for the final stop with people making reservations at the Casino.

We are looking for your comments and thoughts. Next year's host is announced at the Riders meeting at the State convention.

Please be respectful with your comments. We do not want to discourage anyone from reaching out about hosting.

I know there is a lot of parades and Memorial Day Ceremonies going on this coming weekend, but if you do not have one please do what you can to show you care and support our returning warriors. Roger Deaton will post time in comments as they become available.

Attention Legion Family!!! The second group of deployed “Michigan Air National Guard” will be returning:

Lansing Capitol Airport
Grand Ledge Army National Guard Armory.

On May 23rd. We do NOT have a time yet.

Commaders, Directors and all leaders work with your organization to prep for this please.
Typical scenario- once a time is published we muster at the westside of the Lansing Airport. We will be es**rted to the tarmac by local sheriff, welcome home the soldiers as they debark the plane and es**rt them to the Grand Lesge Armory. (We will need a lot of motorcycles)🇺🇸
