Thank you for your support and efforts in our local Zonta Says No Campaign.
Below is a brief review/overview of our local campaign, consisting of four (4) inter-related efforts:
1) Collection of gently used handbags/backpacks for distribution to Handbags of Hope, with the ultimate recipient being women transitioning from shelter living situations;
2) REAL MEN Say No to Violence Against Women....inviting REAL MEN to take a stand and join the campaign by participating in one of two ways,
a) donation of "filler" items (travel size toiletries, i.e., shampoo, condition, soap, lotion, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) for inclusion in the donation to Handbags of Hope
b) financial contribution (for the purchase of wristbands and ribbons for distribution in the Lansing Area High Schools).
3) Lansing Area High School Workshops. With the assistance of EVE (End Violent Encounters), ZCMCA provided anti-bulling and healthy dating relationship at Lansing Easter, Everett, Sexton and S.T.E.M Academy. Each student received a wristband or ribbon and was invited to further participate by donating "filler" items for Handbags of Hope and to attend the culminating event.
4) Parade of Purses: Tribute to Victims of Violence Against Women. Tribute to victims of domestic violence as well as an awareness and informational event for the community regarding Zonta and how the community can join the campaign.

“We can't and mustn't ignore the fact: violence against women and girls is still pervasive in all kinds of countries and societies. It’s in our back yard. Zonta International has been committed to its prevention and eradication for many years. In 2013, as the UN's Commission on the Status of Women focuses on fighting violence against women, we support the initiative with "Zonta Says NO", a worldwide campaign saying no to violence against women. Do not look away. Join us!" - ZI President Lynn McKenzie
