WELCOME to Clifford Park Community Garden! Clifford Park Community Garden was started in 2001 in partnership with The Garden Project of the Greater Lansing Food Bank, Lansing's Parks and Recreation and interested neighbors. The garden has grown several times over the years, adding fencing, compost bins and compost, and a storage shed for gardeners' use. Water access became available in 2008, which

helped the garden grow and allowed the garden to expand to its current size. Individual plots are 'rented' for a nominal fee to the gardener by The Garden Project which includes plants, seeds, tools, soil amendments and educational workshops. While Clifford Park Community Garden is not 'officially' an organic garden, we do promote the use of compost vs chemical fertilizers and support low-impact methods of pest and disease control. There are many different size garden plots and styles of gardening, including perennial and native plantings, raised bed style and no-till year-round gardens alongside traditional garden plantings. Many of our gardeners return each year (and several have been here since the beginning), continuing to amend their soil and improve their plot. You can get a LOT of produce out of a 10 x 20 plot using intensive gardening techniques. We usually have a few plots available each year, although they are 'first come, first served' and go quickly. If you are interested in participating in the Clifford Park Community Garden, please contact The Garden Project at 517- 853-7809 or via email at [email protected] with your mailing info and a registration will be sent to you in early spring of the next gardening year.
