Members of the Owtstanding Omicron Mu Mu Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated demonstrated the Fraternity’s commitment to service by traveling to Gary, Indiana, to support residents affected by widespread power outages caused by recent storms. Brothers Brian Sanders, Demond Hairston, Richard Cornell, Gordon Looper, Norman Craig, and Joseph Bean fired up the grills and helped prepare and distribute hot meals to community members facing difficult circumstances. Through their collective efforts, the Brothers helped feed more than 400 people, providing not only food but encouragement and fellowship during a challenging time. Their service exemplified Omega Psi Phi’s Cardinal Principle of Uplift, showing that Brotherhood is most powerful when it is put into action.

Brothers of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omicron Mu Mu Graduate Chapter proudly volunteered their time and service at the Senior Resource Fair held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the South Suburban Housing Center in Harvey, Illinois.

The event brought together local organizations and service providers to connect older adults with valuable resources, including health and wellness information, benefits assistance, caregiver support, and programs that promote healthy, independent living.

As part of the chapter’s commitment to service and civic engagement, the Brothers staffed a voter registration table to provide eligible community members with the opportunity to register to vote and receive information about the voter registration process. The chapter successfully assisted a new voter with registration while encouraging civic participation among event attendees. “Our commitment extends beyond community service to empowering citizens through civic engagement,” said the Omicron Mu Mu Voter Registration, Education, and Mobilization Chair Oscar Parrish. “Providing voter registration opportunities is one way we help strengthen our communities and encourage every eligible citizen to have their voice heard.”

The chapter’s participation in the Senior Resource Fair was a volunteer service initiative and reflects Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.’s longstanding commitment to uplifting the communities it serves through service, leadership, and social action. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that improve the quality of
life for residents while fostering informed and engaged communities.

Demonstrating a continued commitment to civic engagement and voter empowerment, the Omicron Mu Mu Graduate Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., in partnership with 2nd Ward Alderwoman Colby Chapman of Harvey, IL, successfully hosted a Cook
County Deputy Registrar Training on Friday, July 17th, at Transformation United Methodist Church in Harvey.

The training was coordinated through the Office of the Cook County Clerk and was led by Matthew Fruth, Assistant Deputy Clerk of Elections, and Wydell Brown. Through this collaborative effort, approximately 25 eligible Cook County registered voters successfully completed the required training
to become Cook County Deputy Registrars.

Deputy Registrars play a vital role in strengthening democracy by helping eligible residents register to vote, verifying voter eligibility, completing voter registration applications, and ensuring completed
applications are submitted to the appropriate election authority. By increasing the number of trained Deputy Registrars, this initiative expands access to voter registration and reinforces community
