As women in the legal profession, we recognize that the pursuit of justice is an ongoing journey. Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the importance of advancing equity, protecting civil rights, and ensuring that our legal system works for all.

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan celebrates this day of reflection, education, and progress. We remain committed to fostering inclusion within the legal profession and supporting efforts that strengthen equal access to justice.

Today is Day. 🏳️‍🌈

In the legal profession, LGBTQIA+ attorneys face distinct wage gaps driven by workplace bias and a lack of data transparency. For transgender attorneys and professionals of color, these intersectional barriers are even steeper.

True justice means creating legal workplaces where every professional is valued and compensated fairly—without a "closet penalty" impacting their career trajectory or partnership path. ⚖️

Happy Pride Month from the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan! 🌈

This month we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, honor the progress made toward equality, and recognize the work that remains to ensure justice, dignity, and inclusion for all. As advocates for equity and social justice, we are proud to stand with LGBTQ+ lawyers, judges, law students, and community members across Michigan and the nation.

This weekend marks the largest Pride Month celebration in Michigan - Motor City Pride in Detroit’s Hart Plaza.

We wish everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Pride Month!

Thank you to everyone who came out this spring to make the Stride for Justice 5K such an incredible success! From our runners and walkers to our volunteers, sponsors, and supporters, this event wouldn't have been possible without you. After months of planning, the 2025-2026 WLAM Leadership Class raised over $5,000 for First Step and their life-changing programs for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
