Celebrating Women's History Month:
💚💜Women who Shape a Sustainable Future
Creating a sustainable future is not a single act or grand gesture. It is shaped through my choices, actions, and moments of courage. Sustainability is about agency, power, and Change long-term impact — and women are the beginning, the center, and the end of the story.
A sustainable future starts with me. I believe in protecting my peace, setting boundaries, investing in personal growth, and surrounding myself with communities that uplift and empower each other. These practices are not luxuries; they are the foundation for meaningful, lasting change.
I also emphasize the importance of advocating for fair policies within organizations, mentoring young women, and challenging systems that expect women to be seen but not heard. As a Black woman, I believe deeply in taking up space and speaking boldly — not only for myself, but for all marginalized communities. My decision to run for the Lansing City Charter Commission was rooted in a desire to make a lasting contribution to my community and to help shape a sustainable future for Lansing. I understand that representation matters, and that my presence could amplify the voices of those who felt unseen or unheard.
A woman creates a sustainable future by refusing to shrink, by investing in herself, and by building systems that outlast her. Sustainability means creating a world where women thrive, lead, and shape the narrative.
With more than 30 years of government and community relations experience — including twelve years of service on the City of Lansing Board of Ethics — I hope my lasting legacy will be one of service, impact, and a community strengthened by my commitment to equity and inclusion.
