Every day brings new challenges. Some are expected. Many are not.

In a world where obstacles seem to appear around every corner, it can be easy to become discouraged. But at Advent House Ministries, we are reminded that our mission has never been dependent on easy circumstances. It is built on perseverance, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the people we serve.

There will always be barriers to overcome, setbacks to navigate, and difficult days to face. Yet we remain committed to showing up, doing the work, and standing alongside our community.

We will continue to advocate. We will continue to serve. We will continue to create pathways toward stability, dignity, and hope.

Because every challenge is another opportunity to prove that compassion is stronger than adversity.

No matter what comes our way, we keep moving forward—together.

Last September, the HARA began assisting people living at the Deitrick Park encampment. Some of whom had been unhoused for years. One gentleman, an amputee living outdoors for nearly five years, faced serious medical challenges, lacked identification, and had no reliable transportation or path to stable housing.

Over several months, Advent House Ministries helped him obtain his ID and vital documents, connected him with medical care, coordinated transportation, and continued advocating for him even after he suffered a stroke earlier this year.

He was recently approved for a Housing Choice Voucher and will soon move into an apartment of his own for the first time in five years. With stable housing and support services, he can finally live in peace, safety, and dignity.

In observance of the holiday, the offices of Advent House Ministries will be closed on Monday, May 25th, 2026. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.

Doors lock for safety. Locked does not mean closed. Staff were inside, and both police and dispatch are aware that entry may require knocking to gain access to the facility.

Treating a locked door as a closure, without attempting entry, is an error on the visitor's part.

Code Blue means access to warmth, and that access was available.

Let’s not turn a door handle into a crisis.
