Lansing Fire Department is hiring Firefighter I & II / Paramedics!

▪️ 41-person daily minimum staffing across 6 stations, with 6 Engines, 2 Ladder Trucks, 5 ALS ambulances and a Battalion Chief.

▪️ Engineer, Captain and Battalion Chief ranks are not assigned to ambulance shifts.

▪️ Specialty teams: Technical Rescue, Hazmat, Water Rescue and Extrication.

▪️ 53-hour work week with vacation, personal and sick leave totaling approximately 480 hours annually.

▪️ $350 bonus for each shift worked on an ambulance—approximately $15,000 annually.

▪️ No mandatory overtime, with overtime opportunities available!

▪️ Pension with a 3.0 multiplier; retirement at 25 years of service and age 50.

Local 421 would like to extend our deepest condolences to Durham Firefighters IAFF Local 668, the Durham Fire Department, and the family, friends, and fellow firefighters of Brother Brokes.

Firefighter Andrew Brokes tragically lost his life in the line of duty this morning while operating at a structure fire. Two additional firefighters were injured and transported to the hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

Jason has been a member of the Lansing Fire Department since 2006, and has served both in the suppression division and as a Captain in the EOC for several years.

We would like to congratulate Adam Meidinger on his recent promotion to Captain! Adam has risen from the ranks of firefighter/paramedic, engineer, and now to a dedicated leader of Station 4 A-Shift and our Hazardous Materials Program. We have no doubt that you will continue to do great things, Adam!

STRUCTURE FIRE: At approximately 10 PM on September 19, Lansing Firefighters responded to the 2800 block of Aurelius Rd for the report of a house fire. Upon arrival on scene, E44 initiated fire attack and confined the fire to the kitchen of the residence. All residents had safely evacuated and search of the home was clear. No injuries were reported.

Responding LFD units included: E44, E48, E49, T41, T46, Medic 49, and BC41. E41 requested as an additional rig.

Lansing Firefighters Local 421 would like to extended our sincerest thanks and appreciation to our brothers and sisters at East Lansing Firefighters Local 1609 for sending over a sweet treat yesterday on the 11th anniversary of the loss of our brother, Dennis Rodeman. It’s always a hard day, and your kind gesture and support mean a lot to us.

Today, Lansing Firefighters Local 421 remembers Brother Dennis Rodeman, who made the ultimate sacrifice 11 years ago on September 9, 2015.

Dennis dedicated his life to serving others, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten. We continue to honor his memory, his service, and the legacy he left with his family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the Lansing Fire Department.

Though 11 years have passed, we still and always will remember.
