Thank you to Senator Elissa Slotkin for taking the time to meet with IAFF Local 421 this week to discuss duty injury healthcare and the challenges firefighters face after being injured in the line of duty.

Tomorrow we continue that fight as we move into Step 3 discussions with the city, we are working to protect the benefits and support our members.

When firefighters are injured protecting the citizens of Lansing, we believe they deserve the care and support needed to recover and return to their families. We ask our members to put their bodies on the line for this city every day. It's only fair that the city stands behind them when that sacrifice comes at a cost.

Battalion Chief Dickerson requested and facilitated a group photo. Thank you to FF/Paramedic Szypula's father for taking time out of his morning to provide the photography. Shown in the photo are all the full-time/union members of the Delhi Township Fire Department.

Last night while much of the city slept, your Lansing Firefighters responded to three structure fires after midnight, two of them occurring almost simultaneously.

Crews made aggressive interior attacks and quick, efficient knockdowns that helped limit the damage and severity of these incidents.

Thankfully, no occupants or firefighters were injured, and all fires remain under investigation.

Strong work by B Shift. Between these fires and the higher than average additional calls across the city, this was a demanding and exhausting shift for our crews.

Your Lansing Firefighters. Always Ready.
