Club members made God's Eyes in the Learning Center today!

This meditative craft has roots in indigenous Mexico where people used them as symbols of protection. The kids really enjoyed getting into the rhythm of weaving the yarn in a pattern while listening to music. Sometimes it's nice to take a few moments to slow down and create something new!

Cookie Decorating Day at our Northside Campus did not disappoint! 🍪✨

We had a great turnout with kids ready to decorate, create, and express themselves in their own unique ways. Some shared big dreams for their future, from attending Michigan State to becoming art designers and bakers. And one kid summed up the whole afternoon perfectly: "This is the best part of my whole day."

Moments like that are exactly why we do what we do. 💙

Meet Ms. V!
Role: Cadet Room Supervisor/Extension Site Lead Trainer
Time at the Club: 9 years!
⭐ Favorite Club memory: The last Staff vs. Club Members basketball game - “I went up to block a shot from one of 10-12 yr old Club members and came down with a sprained ankle. It was definitely worth the pain, though because the staff won the game!”

🎉 Just for Fun!
• Favorite hobby: Cooking (when I get a chance) 🍳
• Go-to snack: Adult Charcuterie board!

Ms. V is an incredible asset to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lansing! While she typically supervises the Cadet Room for our Club members ages 7-9, this summer she is training our team at our brand new Westside site! Hard working, reliable, and compassionate, it's not hard to see why she's also our Employee of the Year! Thank you, Ms. V. It's because of staff like you that kids come to the Club everyday. 💙

Best way to start the summer? Field trip to Quality Dairy down the street for some ICE CREAM! 🍨
