Bhutanese Society of Lansing is a non-profit organization based in Lansing, Michigan. Our mission is to help and support fellow Bhutanese refugees resettled in Lansing and neighboring areas. We have a total of about 3000 individual residing in Lansing areas. They all have been here through refugee resettlement programs facilitated by the IOM (International Organization for Migration). Currently, w
e are still in the adjustment phase of our new lives. We are always in need of help and support from local, state, and federal agencies to make our transition effective. Our future plans include opening an office to address the existing needs of our community members. The elderly people of our community needs recreational activities to mitigate depression and loneliness. Similarly, the younger generations needs employment skills and training to be able to find jobs. We hope with support and collaboration with the local and state agencies we will be able to help the new families who have entered the United States with a hope of living a better life. We envision supporting community members by preserving our cultural heritage and maintain our own identity as Bhutanese American. We will work with social and government organizations to enhance member welfare.
