Robyn Heron, Chief Marketing Officer at PFCU, has been a dedicated member of our board for over six years and served as Board Chair for the past two. During her time on the board, she has witnessed firsthand the impact our programs have on local students and played an integral role in helping them build confidence in their financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship skills.

Recently, Robyn shared what her experience with JA has meant to her and why she remains passionate about advancing our mission. We're grateful for her leadership and for her commitment to inspiring and preparing young people for success!

This year’s JA Day at the Capitol brought together students from across Michigan in Lansing to hear from business leaders, connect with peers, and meet with local lawmakers. Each student arrived with a unique JA experience, from launching a business through Pitch Day to competing in the Titan Business Challenge or stepping into the role of CEO in the JA CEO Challenge.

While their journeys may have looked different, they all gained valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, career readiness, and financial literacy. Hear directly from these students and members of JA's Executive Committee about how JA is shaping students' understanding of financial literacy and preparing them for the future.

JA of Mid Michigan closed out the school year strong with the JA High School Heroes program, made possible through the support of the City of Lansing, Michigan - Government and in partnership with the Lansing School District. After learning leadership skills in Becky Morse’s classroom, Everett High School sophomore and junior students put those lessons into action by delivering JA programs to students at Cavanaugh STEAM Elementary School.

We are proud of these young leaders for stepping up as role models and making a positive impact in their community. Thank you to Becky Morse, Lansing School District, and all participating students for a successful year!

A summer job is more than a paycheck, it’s often a young person’s first step toward independence, confidence, and career readiness.

Through hands-on experiences, students learn how to communicate, problem-solve, manage responsibility, and navigate the workplace, skills that last far beyond the summer season.

At Junior Achievement, we’re helping prepare students for those opportunities and the future ahead.

Eastern High School student Lasean Granderson had an incredible opportunity to participate in a JA Job Shadow and ride along with our friends at Northern Boiler. Lasean aspires to enter the welding profession.

These experiences are made possible through strong community partnerships and educators who are committed to connecting students with real-world career opportunities that bring classroom learning to life.

Lasean also attends the Lansing Career and Technical Education program at The Hills, where educators Ben Cater and Nicole Milsap work tirelessly to create meaningful mentorship and career exploration experiences for students.

Thank you to Lansing School District and Northern Boiler for your continued partnership with Junior Achievement and commitment to inspiring Mid Michigan students to succeed.

The connection between education and economic opportunity is evolving. Today, preparing students for what’s next takes more than academic achievement alone.

Early access to financial literacy, career-connected learning, and entrepreneurial experiences helps students build the confidence and real-world skills needed to navigate their futures and thrive in a changing workforce.

Our latest blog explores how these experiences help bridge the gap between classroom learning and long-term economic success.
