Teach a Man to Fish requires skilled scuba divers to execute our projects. An important part of our work is training local people. Director of Operations Christian Lemouche is a certified Dive Instructor, and he is always building team capacity through scuba training.
Some of his students are ready to proceed with PADI certification, and we are looking for sponsors. For US$100 you can help one of these divers achieve their goal of certification.

Sea conditions have not been good in the last few weeks for moving reefs, so we thought we'd take a look back at the early days of the project.

Teach a Man to Fish began work in 2016; this video shows the first reef delivery vehicle and the drop of a lobster-tail shaped reef in the bay of Ostional, Nicaragua in January of 2017.

On April 8 Yohana Sanchez successfully accomplished her first open water dive in a bay near Ostional, Nicaragua, with instructor Christian Lemouche. Yohana is deaf, and she and Christian have worked out their own sign language to communicate. Yohana is a member of the Nica Chicas group and is working towards becoming a certified scubadiver so she can participate fully in the Teach a Man to Fish project. Part 3 of a series.

Teach a Man to Fish is creating artificial reefs in Ostional, Nicaragua. Reefs are a haven for marine life and dramatically increase biodiversity. You can be part of this project by sponsoring a reef!

We build our reefs from concrete blocks and paint the name of the sponsor on the top. The location of the reef is registered in our database, so as time passes and the reef is colonized by plants and fish, it can still be identified.

Reef sponsorship is a great way to promote your business, a unique and impactful gift, and a beautiful way to honor a loved one. Cost is only $200 per reef. If you are living or traveling in Nicaragua, you are welcome to be present when your reef is being transported to the position in the Ostional bay.

If you are interested in sponsorship, DM us. You can donate here, at our website www.tamtf.net (scroll to bottom of page) or if you are in Nicaragua you can bring your donation to our work site in Ostional.

A MILESTONE FOR TEACH A MAN TO FISH!
Yesterday was an important milestone for TAMTF. The floating hatchery platform was successfully launched from the Ostional beach. It’s now in position over its mooring. It took a team to move it down the beach and into the shallow water, using the wheeled carts devised for moving the SubCrafts and heavy artificial reefs, and then it was towed into place. This platform has two very clever windmills designed by Poseidon that will be used to generate power, pump sea water to circulate through the hatchery tanks and to aerate that water for months or even years to come.

We would like to honor the Nica Chicas on today, International Womens' Day. They continue to be the engines of our organization. Building, transporting, idea generating. We couldn't do this without them. Thank you.
