Religious Freedom is a Progressive Value.

Freedom of religion is a fundamental right in the United States. The government may not establish a religion. The separation of church and state, which progressives champion, is essential for religious freedom. It protects all people, whether they share a religion with the majority of the country, with a minority of the country, or do not practice a religion at all. The PWC will always fight for religious freedom so long as a person or group is not using religion to oppress others.

Michigan voters elected members of the state legislature to work for them, not argue with each other. Michiganders have a lot in common regardless of political party: we all want our families to be safe, our wages to be fair, our water to be clean, and our tax system to not favor the rich at the expense of everyone else. Nobody wants to see gridlock in Lansing. Progressives are ready to work for the people. And the people are tired of waiting. Let’s go.

Michigan’s economy only works when it works for the people who work it. In other words, if Michigan workers aren’t doing well, then Michigan’s economy isn’t doing well. Too many people work hard every day, often at more than one job, yet still struggle to make ends meet. PWC is committed to fighting for a living wage, paid family leave, affordable child care, and fair treatment for every Michigan worker.

The freedom to vote. The freedom to read. The freedom to make reproductive decisions, including abortion and contraception use. The freedom to be who you are. The freedom to marry. The freedom to protest. The freedom to live without the constant threat of gun violence. The freedom to worship or not worship. The freedom to travel. The freedom to dream. These are progressive values. This is what the PWC stands for.

The Michigan House GOP’s budget isn’t about “fiscal responsibility.” It’s about cutting workers, gutting communities, and destroying equity to pay for their priorities.

They’ve proposed slashing funding for:

Education pathways that help adults and at-risk youth get diplomas and good jobs

Workforce development and small-business growth

Environmental protections, slowing cleanups and oversight of hazardous waste

Public health, including maternal care, contraception, and access to life-saving medications

This budget will make it harder for Michigan families to thrive, keep our water clean, and build a stronger economy that works for everyone.
