The Aitch Foundation is dedicated to changing lives through the advancement of cancer research and education. We join in sharing that March is National Colore**al Cancer Awareness Month.

Colore**al cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the United States. Yet it's one of the few cancers that's preventable thanks to screening. Here are two reasons why getting checked matters:
Screening can find the warning signs of colon and re**al cancer, letting doctors take
action to prevent the disease.
Screening can also find colore**al cancer early, when treatment is most effective. Learn more at https://colore**alcancer.org/basics-what-colore**al-cancer

Today, February 4 is World Cancer Day. A day established in 2008 to honor those we’ve lost, support those living with cancer, and raise awareness for better prevention and treatment options. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer.

The Aitch Foundation is proud to do their part by funding the cancer research of four MSU fellows this year. Check back to learn more.

Our final 2024/25 Aitch Foundation Fellow is Annie Needs. Annie is working on her Chemical Engineering PhD, which she expects to complete in June 2027.

Under the direction of Advisor, Dr. Daniel Woldring, Annie’s research will focus on the performance antibodies ideal for early detection of pediatric cancers (e.g., neuroblastoma).

Annie's research was made possible by the contribution of Aitch Foundation partner MSUFCU. We thank MSUFCU for their generous support.

Michael Parnas resides in Brighton and is in the Department of Biomedical Engineering MSU PhD program.

His research involves early and non-invasive detection of breast cancer using a novel insect olfactory neural circuitry-based gas sensor. We can’t wait to share more about his exciting research in the months ahead.

Michael's research would not be possible without our partnership with the Joe D. Pentecost Foundation.

Meet Aitch Fellow, Lucy XU. Lucy is a 4th year MD/PhD student in CHM and biomedical engineering.

Her research focuses on a dual treatment approach which could lead to a more effective, safer way to treat ovarian cancer or other metastasized cancers, improve survival rates, and enhance the quality of life for patients.

This amazing work would not be possible without our partnership with the Joe D. Pentecost Foundation
