“the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is loosening restrictions on COVID-19 workplace rules, making it easier for businesses to resume in-person work.”

The state has been under a variety of emergency orders since March 2020 when the first COVID-19 cases were detected in Michigan. Several change June 1.

Job creators and employees are finally free to work together on plans that work best for their success and safety: “The lifting of Michigan’s in-person work restrictions is a light at the end of the tunnel for remote workers eager to get back to the office, while others are hoping flexible work settings will stick long term.”

“We’re encouraged the administration heard our voices loud and clear,” says Wendy Block with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. “Keeping governing control over the workplace with this sort of detail isn’t needed, and it’s counterproductive.”

Gov. Whitmer has had no problem telling us what we can and cannot do, while she’s been caught violating her own orders time and again.

"The new order eliminates the six-person table seating limit...a rule that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer herself violated over the weekend when she gathered with a dozen friends at the Landshark, an East Lansing bar and restaurant."

Starting June 1, the big party table is back in Michigan bars and restaurants — and the dance floor will be open. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' new order for gatherings eliminates the six-person table seating limit that has been in place since February after the late fall.....

Michigan’s job creators rallied to stop temporary MIOSHA rules from being a permanent burden on our economic restart. Now they can work together with employees on plans that fit.

“The company has been having offices across the country participate in pilot programs. One such program will begin in Detroit now that office work is allowed.”

The downtown Detroit corporate world has been dormant for 15 months, with legal cases argued from spare bedrooms and tens of billions in mortgages sold from workers' basements during the COVID-19 pandemic. That's slowly starting to change, much to the delight of the small business owners and others.....

"Joe Bauman, president of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber, was one of the leaders behind the group Reopen Michigan Safely, which launched earlier this year and aimed to end the in-person working ban in the state. Comprised of local chamber of commerce and industrial groups, it aimed at lobbying the state to end the ban, which, Bauman said, is affecting not just the workers in the offices but the surrounding areas."

Here's what some local leaders think as the ban on in-office work is lifted beginning Monday.

"Hinrich’s chamber is part of 59 Michigan business organizations that formed the Reopen Michigan Safely coalition this March. The group submitted “thousands” of comments in opposition to the idea of permanent MIOSHA rules.

“The proposed permanent MIOSHA regulations … would have been disastrous for our state’s employers, communities and workforce,” said Ronald Hinrichs, president and CEO of the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce in a news release. “We agree that this is a step in the right direction.”

But the current rules are in place until Oct. 14.
