Join the South Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Corridor Improvement Authority on Thursday, October 15, for an afternoon of service, connection, and neighborhood pride along the S. MLK corridor.

We’ll gather at UA Local 333 at 12:30 PM for lunch catered by La Mulata Restaurant before heading out for the cleanup. Gloves, trash bags, and other cleanup supplies will be provided.

Happy Manufacturing Day, Lansing!

Manufacturing is an important part of Lansing’s story and its future. Today, over 1,000 students across the Lansing area are getting an inside look at modern manufacturing, connecting with local employers, and exploring career opportunities in the industry.

We were glad to join the Capital Area Manufacturing Council at Lansing Community College West to kick off the day and celebrate the manufacturers, educators, and community partners helping build our region’s future workforce.

We are so proud of all of Kahleea’s accomplishments and appreciate all of the work she does every day to support Lansing!

Congratulations to Kahleea Washington, Community Development Specialist at the Lansing Economic Development Corporation for the 10 Over the Next Ten Award.

Kahleea is an Illinois native, entrepreneur, and urban sociologist focused on how community investment shapes lived experience. In 2023, Kahleea moved to Michigan for a Community Development Fellowship with CEDAM and MEDC, leaving home to start a career in a new state. Three years later, Kahleea serves as the sole Community Development Specialist at the Lansing EDC, managing corridor programs, small business support, grants, and placemaking initiatives. This honoree also owns Sweet Lee's Teas, a local tea business.

Kahleea also serves on the Mid-Michigan Junior Achievement Associate Board.

One of my biggest takeaways was learning how important it is to slow down and take the time to build a complete and accurate pro forma because it truly is the financial roadmap for the project. I also gained a much stronger understanding of capital stacking and how different sources can work together to move a project forward. I’m grateful for what I learned and know I will continue using these lessons as I develop 108–110 S. MLK, the Moon House project.”
