Our Story + Mission:
I would love to introduce you to a new initiative in the Greater Lansing area. As some of you may know, I have worked for McLaren Greater Lansing for over 20 years, serving the Lansing community as a Registered Nurse. Throughout my time with McLaren, I have noticed that patients are often cold during their stay. Although the hospital supplies blankets to all patients, they ar
e often too thin, and do not hold heat in well. As an RN, I spend a lot of time with my patients and am known for being people first/people led. I saw an opportunity to make a positive impact, even if it were a small one, within my own workplace and brought in a few fleece blankets to spread warmth to patients that needed it. After receiving positive feed back from those that I had helped, I decided that I wanted to further my reach and seek out the opportunity to create a non-profit that's purpose was to provide warmth and comfort through out the hospital, and hopefully further in the future. When patients are no longer cold, they can focus on healing, resting and their overall wellness. Such a small act of kindness is able to create a ripple effect, not only providing patients with the feeling of happiness, warmth and compassion but also increases the likeliness of leaving the hospital healthy with a positive outlook on their stay.
