From severe storms and power outages to flooding and other emergencies, having a plan can help families respond quickly and safely when challenges arise.

This month, Habitat for Humanity of Michigan encourages everyone to take a few simple steps to prepare:

• Create or review your family emergency plan
• Keep an emergency supply kit stocked and accessible
• Know how you’ll receive local emergency alerts
• Check your home for potential safety concerns
• Make sure important documents and contact information are easy to access

A safe, resilient home is an important part of a strong community. Take time this month to make sure you and your family are prepared for whatever comes next.

There’s more than one way to give to Habitat!

When you support Habitat for Humanity in Michigan, you can choose the kind of giving that works best for you. Habitat Michigan and its network of 43 local affiliates offer many ways to help build and preserve safe, affordable housing across our state.

You can:

💸 Make a financial gift to support Habitat’s work and housing programs across Michigan.

😦 Donate a vehicle through Cars for Homes. Cars, trucks, RVs, boats, motorcycles and other vehicles may be accepted, even if they are not running.

🚗 Donate new or gently used items to a ReStore, where their resale helps generate revenue for local Habitat affiliates while keeping usable materials out of landfills.

⏰️ Give your time and talents by volunteering on a build site, at a ReStore, in an office, or through a committee or board.

📣 Give your voice by advocating for policies that expand access to safe and affordable housing.

🤝 Partner with Habitat as a business, organization, funder, or community partner to help expand the impact of Habitat’s work.

Whether you give your dollars, your belongings, your vehicle, your time, or your voice, there’s a way for everyone to help build homes, communities, and hope.
