Today, Michigan CEC recognizes and celebrates Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history.

As advocates for children and individuals with exceptionalities, we know that meaningful inclusion begins with listening, learning, and ensuring every voice is valued. Juneteenth serves as an important reminder that progress is built through opportunity, access, and a commitment to creating communities where all individuals can learn, grow, and belong.

We celebrate freedom, reflect on our shared history, and reaffirm our commitment to equity and inclusion for all.

Special education works best when it is integrated with all education programs.

Moving OSERS to HHS would separate special education from the broader education system and risk undermining inclusion. Students with disabilities represent 15% of all learners, and they deserve to remain part of a unified K–12 system.

IDEA is an education law, and special education belongs in education. Speak out with us! https://exceptionalchildren.org/lac?vvsrc=/Campaigns/121668/Respond
