📣 MCCE is thrilled to be joining students at Macomb Community College for a hands-on Voter Engagement Day on September 15. This event is designed to help students connect with the voting process and understand why their vote matters.

Students will have opportunities to check their voting status, register to vote, participate in a mock voting experience, and learn more about civic engagement.

And while this event is designed specifically for Macomb Community College students, we love to bring similar experiences to campuses and schools across Michigan.

🚨 The MiVoice MiVote Student Voter Registration Challenge is ON! 🚨

Democracy isn't just something students read about in a textbook. It's something they practice.

The Student Voter Registration Challenge is a statewide competition designed to help Michigan students build the knowledge, confidence, and skills to participate in our voting processes - and make their voices heard.

🗳️ Students can pledge to register or preregister to vote.
📈 Schools can track their progress.
💡 Schoosl can get recognized for their involvement.

Because when students engage civically, entire communities benefit.

Everyone meet Jenny Kinne, MCCE's newest team member. Jenny recently joined MCCE as our Fund Development Specialist. Drop Jenny a welcome in the comments! 🗨

Jenny Kinne is a nonprofit leader, organizer, and independent bookseller with more than a decade of experience in community organizing, advocacy, civic engagement, education, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership. Jenny currently serves as the Fund Development Specialist for the Michigan Center for Civic Education (MCCE). Prior to joining MCCE, Jenny served as Senior Director of Advocacy at Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, where she led statewide organizing and advocacy efforts. She is also the former owner of Books & Mortar in Grand Rapids and the current owner of Antidote Books & Records in Holland. Jenny is passionate about community building, public policy, grassroots advocacy, education, and good books. She lives in Holland with her partner, kids, dog, cats, and lizard.

Michigan: It’s time to turn civic readiness into action.

The 2026 MiVoice MiVote Student Voter Registration Challenge is OFFICIALLY LAUNCHING! We are bringing schools and students across Michigan together to build a stronger culture of civic participation, one student & one school at a time.

Through a collaborative partnership between the Michigan Center for Civic Education, Michigan Department of State, and Michigan Department of Education, MiVoice MiVote gives educators the tools and support they need to help students understand voting, preregistration, and the election process.

🏆 Schools will compete based on the percentage of eligible students who register or preregister to vote, with statewide recognition at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels.
📚 Educators also gain access to Voting School, a growing digital library of nonpartisan, standards-aligned classroom resources.
🎓 Students can take the pledge, learn about voting, participate in hands-on civic experiences, and even create their own nonpartisan civic engagement projects.

We are so excited to welcome our educators back for Day Two of our America250 Civic Education Retreat! Today, our programmatic-based breakout rooms will help educators bring tailored civic education opportunities to their own classrooms as they learn the fine details of We the People, Mock Trial, and Project Community!
