We’re still waiting on pictures, but we couldn’t wait to thank everyone who helped make When September Ends: Community Engagement Summit such a meaningful evening of learning, connection, and growing together.

From the bold voices of people with lived experience of homelessness, to the art and music shared, to the poignant and powerful keynote, the evening gave us so much to reflect on, and carry forward into action.

Thank you for showing up, sharing your perspectives, listening, and exploring how we can strengthen our community’s response to homelessness together.

🏠 HOW CAN COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT BUILD OUR CAPACITY TO END HOMELESSNESS IN LANSING?

WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUMMIT brings our community together for an evening of stories, conversation, art, food, and opportunities to get involved in the work of ending homelessness.

This isn't just a conversation about homelessness. It's an opportunity to LISTEN, LEARN, CONNECT, and find a way to be part of a community response.

✨ WHAT TO EXPECT ✨

🎤 OPERATION END HOMELESSNESS: COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY. A panel discussion hosted by Julie Jacobs Vandenboom, exploring what it means for our community to take responsibility for responding to homelessness.

💬 OPERATION END HOMELESSNESS: BRAVE STORIES, BOLD VOICES. A panel discussion hosted by Mr. Joe Walker featuring people sharing their perspectives and expertise from lived experience of homelessness.

The Ingham County Continuum of Care will provide $100 gift cards to our Brave Stories, Bold Voices panel participants in recognition of the value of their lived experience and the expertise they bring to this conversation.

The Ingham County Continuum of Care Community Engagement Committee is using this event to launch its COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE, creating more opportunities for community members to learn about homelessness, share their knowledge and lived experience, build relationships, and find meaningful ways to participate in the work ahead.
We believe that ending homelessness is not the responsibility of one organization, one system, or one group of people.

In collaboration with the Ingham County Continuum of Care, Jubilee will be hosting a Community Engagement Summit in September!

Throughout our time together, we'll be answering one question:

How can community engagement help build our community’s capacity to respond to homelessness?

Join us for a day of conversation, connection, and exploration around the many ways we can engage our community, including storytelling, art, media, education, advocacy, organizing, lived experience, and more. Together, we’ll explore how these tools can help us challenge assumptions, strengthen relationships, build understanding, and create a community better equipped to respond to homelessness.
