*India Draws a Firm Red Line in U.S. Trade Negotiations*

*Strategic Sovereignty in Global Trade*

*New Delhi advanced its final trade proposal to Washington in ongoing bilateral talks, demonstrating a balanced yet resolute approach:*

- Proposing reduction of current **50% tariffs** (comprising a 25% base and additional 25% penalty) on Indian exports down to **15**.
*This reflects India's willingness for substantial concessions to foster fair trade, especially as U.S. tariffs—imposed in 2025 partly over Russian oil purchases—have impacted Indian exporters, with merchandise exports to the U.S. declining in recent months.*

- Demanding full **removal of additional 25% penalty** tied to purchases of Russian crude oil.
*India already reduced Russian oil imports significantly in 2025 (down 17.8% January-October), diversifying sources including increased U.S. crude purchases, signaling meaningful steps toward alignment while prioritizing energy affordability for its population.*

**The Non-Negotiable Boundary:**

- **Agriculture and dairy remain firmly off-limits**.
*India consistently refused to open its markets to U.S. dairy, corn, soybeans, and other farm products, a stance upheld across multiple negotiation rounds in 2025.*

**Why This Stance Matters – India's Perspective Substantiated:**

- Opening these sectors would **devastate millions of Indian farmers**.
*Agriculture employs about 41% of India's workforce (over 600 million people dependent on it), with average farm holdings of just 1.08 hectares versus 180+ in the U.S.; subsidized U.S. imports could flood markets, slashing prices by 15%+ and causing annual losses exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore in dairy alone.*

- It risks **eroding rural livelihoods and compromising national food security**.
*India is the world's largest milk producer, supporting 80+ million small-scale dairy farmers; cultural and religious sensitivities (e.g., opposition to milk from cows fed animal byproducts) further reinforce protection, alongside concerns over genetically modified crops threatening seed sovereignty and biosafety.*

- Control over domestic agriculture cannot be ceded to foreign agribusiness.
*U.S. farmers receive average annual subsidies of $61,000+ compared to $282 in India, creating uneven playing field; conceding here would undermine rural economies and political stability, as seen in past farmer protests.*

**Key Insights for American Business Leaders:**

This is not mere protectionism — it is an assertion of **national sovereignty** and developmental priorities. India has protected these sectors in all recent FTAs (e.g., UK, New Zealand, Oman).

Trade agreements thrive on flexibility, but **food security, farmer welfare, and cultural values are foundational red lines**.

India is negotiating from a position of **strength and confidence**, offering progress in defense, energy, and non-sensitive sectors while safeguarding core interests — even with a powerhouse like the United States.

**LABC Opportunities Ahead:**

With talks advancing (six rounds completed, aiming for a fair bilateral framework), American enterprises can gain from deeper partnerships in manufacturing, technology, and services, driving mutual growth to the shared $500 billion trade goal by 2030.

*Strategic trade builds enduring alliances. Sovereignty strengthens them.*

**Urgent Community Appeal: Save Our H1-B Families from Deportation, We are in it, Together!!**

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Right now, thousands of our own families — doctors, engineers, teachers, and parents of U.S.-citizen children who have lived here legally for 10–20+ years — face sudden separation and forced deportation because of the current administration’s harsh H1-B crackdown.

These are our kids’ friends’ parents, our coworkers, our temple/church/mosque families. They pay taxes, follow the law, and make our communities better every day.

We cannot let good families be torn apart.

The Lead America Community Network is raising an emergency fund to:
- Fight deportations with legal aid
- Support affected families and children
- Push for immediate H1-B reform

We are gratefully asking for a contribution of **$99 or more** today. Every dollar keeps a family together.

**A Resounding Celebration of Unity and Interfaith Harmony with the Leadership of Ilyas Masih and with our Vibrant Community**

*“In trying and troubling times, we must rise and speak boldly for peace, unity, and justice. As Swami Vivekananda profoundly declared, the essence of all prayer and worship is to be pure in thought, word, and action, and to do good to others.”*

Ilyas Masih, President of All Neighbors Interfaith Alliance, and our cherished neighbors,

Your affable leadership and commitment to harmony have woven a tapestry of unity that continues to inspire. Fresh from the jubilant celebration of America’s Independence Day, I am thrilled to honor your pivotal role in orchestrating our multi-faith liberty event on Saturday, August 16, 2025, where we together celebrated the Independence Days of India, Bolivia, and Pakistan with fervor and grace. Your steadfast support, and the dynamic spirit of our community have made this gathering a luminous testament to togetherness, and I am deeply honored to stand with you in this vibrant alliance.

This past weekend, our interfaith celebration radiated with diversity and joy, as faces and faiths from every corner of our community united in harmony. I was privileged to share the stage with our Honourable Representative Suhas and Delegate JJ Singh, whose presence amplified the event’s resonance. As Hindus and proud people of Indian origin, we celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day, honoring our rich heritage while embracing the unity of all faiths. Delegate Singh’s heartfelt anecdotes of his time in Bolivia captivated the audience, forging a profound connection with our Bolivian families. The historic citation from the Congressman was a powerful acknowledgment of our collective dedication to peace and justice, a moment of pride etched in our shared history.

The evening sparkled with unique moments, including our vibrant tribute to Bolivia’s Independence Day on August 6, 2025. A breathtaking dance performance illuminated the rich traditions of our Bolivian neighbors, and on behalf of the gracious Congressman, I had the honor of presenting the young artist with a bouquet of flowers—a heartfelt gesture of admiration for their cultural brilliance.

Equally joyous was our celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, 2025, just a day before India’s. The air was filled with warmth as we savored a sumptuous Pakistani cuisine dinner, uniting countless backgrounds in a spirit of shared celebration.

In my remarks, I underscored that the continuity of peace and harmony among faith groups is not just vital—it is sacred. Our leadership alliance, exemplified by your transformative work, is the cornerstone of upholding human rights, peace, and justice, especially in turbulent times. We embody Swami Vivekananda’s timeless call to be pure in thought, word, and action, and to do good to others.

To all neighbors, your vibrant participation made this event a cherished milestone.

May God bless you and your families as we continue this radiant journey of unity, forward and together.

, RG.
