A lot of Autistic Children also have S.P.D ( Sensory Processing Disorder) , which makes cutting their nails a nightmare. For my little guy the sensation was just too much. After I cut them I would have to put gloves on his hands for a good hour and he would hold his hands completely out until he got adjusted to the new feeling of shorter nails. Well here is a hack if your child is like mine. Cut them while they are in the tub ! The water makes their nails softer and more easy to cut. This has made a complete difference in our experience. He no longer freaks out and has the after effects of the process. Which used to be an hour battle of screaming , crying and trying to get away , is now a 1 2 3 thing !
