The numbers are in. Here's what SY25–26 looks like for Legends Public Charter School:
📊 ELA proficiency: 45.6% — outperforming the statewide average for Black students by 4.6 points, and schools with our poverty profile by nearly 15 points.
📊 Math growth: 86% of scholars meeting typical growth — 2.4× the PGCPS pace.
📊 Science: +17 points in Grade 5. +12 points over PGCPS in Grade 8.
📊 Chronic absenteeism: 9.2% — less than one-third of the district average.
📊 Student satisfaction: 91%.
Here's the one that stops us in our tracks every time we say it out loud:
The state of Maryland reports that high-concentration-of-poverty schools — schools like ours — typically gain about 6–7 points in ELA and math over four years. Legends gained those same points in two.
Same mountain. Half the time.
This is what it looks like when 900 Black and Brown scholars are in a school built specifically for them — where every teacher is a subject-matter expert, every department has a dedicated Academic Director, and data drives every decision.
We're not closing gaps. We're redefining what's possible.
