September is National Su***de Prevention Month. Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

I never wanted to understand the depth of pain su***de leaves behind or imagine that someone I loved could feel so lost that it seemed like their only option. But today, I felt led to re-listen to my interview with Donna Gayles, host of the Listen Boys and Girls podcast from September 16, 2020, titled "A Message on Optimism."

It stirred memories of a difficult chapter in my life. In December 1995, my husband died by su***de. He was 30. He was terminally ill, facing pain both seen and unseen. When he passed, I couldn't envision a future for myself.

But one moment, one decision, changed that. I began living minute by minute, hour by hour, then day by day, slowly moving from surviving to a place where I could embrace life again—with renewed hope and trust in God's goodness. You can choose to stay. You can choose to move through the pain. There is something beautiful on the other side.

In 1995, optimism was an unreachable feeling, but today, I am here as living proof that it's within reach. I am optimistic, even after everything.

We need and want you here.

As we prepare for the launch of the Mobile Wellness Center this fall, Mosaic Forum is committed to providing high-quality wellness services to our communities. While I'm not a clinician, my personal experiences have gifted me with a profound understanding of the struggles associated with mental health. It is one of several reasons this effort is so important to me. And why I wanted to give people resources I could not access or even knew existed.

After learning from Mosaic Forum Board member Donna Gayles that the Mental Health First Aid workshop for Youth had a vacant seat, I jumped at the chance to participate. It's crucial that all providers involved in Mobile Wellness Center activities are equipped to identify and assist any community member in a mental health crisis, so those staffing and providing care will be required to take the course for youth and adults.

The Mental Health First Aid training is one we should all take. So many folks are suffering; you never know when your path will cross with someone needing your support.

But that leaves us tired and worn out. Let this be a reminder that you matter, and your happiness matters. And it is time to practice a bit of self-care. Support is a call, text, chat or scan away.

Hello everyone!

We are excited to share that in under a week, we have already reached 25% of our goal! Those who donated deserve credit for this amazing progress. Generous donations received thus far will help us purchase four new tires, get a much-needed comprehensive mechanical assessment, and remove the current branding on the truck to start the transformation with Mosaic Forum's branding.
