Healing Circles Langley

Healing Circles Langley Healing Circles Langley invites meaning, connection, and belonging for the well-being of self and community. We offer a variety of ways to engage. Workshops.

Healing Circles is...

A nurturing, supportive place where anyone impacted by cancer, a life-changing condition, or loss can explore and engage in their own healing. A safe sanctuary that invites a step outside the ordinary flow of time… a respite… a recess… a retreat for deep inner listening. A learning community that offers a social hub where all of us—regardless of age or health—can expand our

capacity for healing, living, and aging well. Solo activities. Circles of Two. Sharing circles. Community conversations. Classes. Some of these are scheduled events; others are always available. We also have a number of spaces and places that are healing in their own right: a music room, a meditation room, a secret clubhouse, a sand tray, a bench under a legacy apple tree overlooking the Cascade Mountains and Saratoga Passage…

To keep everything as available and accessible to the widest possible audience, most of what we offer is no- to low-cost or sliding scale. We are staffed by volunteers, most of whom have “been through it” or “in it” in varied and significant ways. While we each draw on our personal experience and training across many disciplines, we work on a peer-to-peer basis. In the event you need professional attention or something more than what Healing Circles Langley can offer, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction. As a program of Commonweal, Healing Circles Langley draws on 30 years of experience with the Commonweal Cancer Help Program, a national leader in cancer support. Healing Circles Langley is committed to providing low- to no-cost services and as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization depends on the generosity of its supporters to make this possible.

Dear HCL Community, We are thrilled to share Make it Beautiful: A Journey into the Heart of Loss Through the Arts.

It is described as a powerful, multi-arts production honoring the 10th anniversary of Healing Circles Langley. This event brings together music, poetry, theatre, film, and dance in an artful and deeply human evening that explores the themes of grief and loss. There will be a Pay What You Wish preview performance on November 13th at 7:00 PM, and the main performance is on November 14th at 7:00 PM.

At its core, Make it Beautiful asks:
What happens when we shine our collective light on grief using the arts?

Join local artists — Aimie Vallat, Eric Mulholland, Judith Adams, Nathaniel Talbot, Meander Dance Collective, and Peggy Taylor — as they guide audiences through a creative journey that celebrates the power of community and the ways we make meaning from life’s most difficult challenges.

This event is presented in partnership with WICA’s Walking Each Other Home program, and benefits:

- Healing Circles Langley
- Island Senior Resources
- Whidbey Island Center for the Arts

Both the preview and the main performance will feature a community talk-back with the audience post-performance.

Another Update: The Soup Box Derby has been cancelled for the year. There were not enough racers who could come out. Let's all hope for good weather next year!

The Derby and the Soup-nic are cancelled today due to rain. Stay tuned for next steps and enjoy this rainy day!

Weather update! Unfortunately, the Derby has been cancelled for today and moved to next Sunday, September 21, which means the Soup-nic will not happen today either. We will post here about the plans for the rescheduling as soon as we can. In the meantime, enjoy your rainy Sunday!

Hello HCL Community,

If the weather cooperates, this Sunday, September 14, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, following the annual Soup Box Derby in downtown Langley, our Roots of Wellness team will welcome the community to our 2nd Annual Post Soup Box Derby Soup-nic on the lawn next to HCL.

We are beyond grateful to the beloved Heggenes Valley Band for their willingness to provide their lively repertoire of music—so ready your vocal chords and dancing feet, as all your Whidbey favorites will be ringing through the air! And let’s not forget the delicious soup provided by Langley United Methodist Church and Island Senior Resources, lawn games, and giant bubbles. There’s something for everyone at the Soup-nic!

Because the weather forecast (right now) is threatening to rain on all the fun plans, please keep an eye out for an email from HCL if there is a delay, postponement, or cancellation made by the organizers of the Soup Box Derby, then our team will follow their lead.

Thank you all for your flexibility and support; you make our mission of creating meaning, connection, and belonging for the well-being of the community possible.

Join us on August 12, at 1:00 pm Pacific, for a live conversation with Jerry Millhon—father, life partner, friend, educator, and founder of Thriving Communities—as he reflects on the life-changing impact of a devastating bike accident. In this honest and wide-ranging dialogue with guest host Elin Stebbins Waldal of Commonweal’s Healing Circles program, they’ll explore what it means to navigate unexpected change, claim strength in the face of uncertainty, and hold fast to belief when the road ahead is still being written. Together, they’ll reflect on vulnerability, perseverance, and the daily, courageous work of believing in what’s still possible. https://tns.commonweal.org/events/millhon-waldal/
