What is my vision, plans and reason?
My plan is to continue bring my safety expertise to the board as I advocate for smart, practical policies, enhanced safety practices, and stronger school and community partnerships.
My time with the city gives me a “deep understanding” of large-scale budgets, program management, training instruction and policy implementation. I plan to continue utilizing my many contacts to expand Lanett City Schools’ influence at the local and the state level. I hope to expand our influence across the state at a higher level by advocating for students and teachers and children at the Alabama Association of School Boards and talking with our local leaders and our state representatives.
I plan to expand partnerships between the school system and local industries to offer more Career and Technical Education programs for students. I want to build stronger partnerships between the school system and local colleges.
I would like to see us utilize some of our local businesses and some of our local organizations and build a better partnership with the Alabama Office of Apprenticeships, so we can have our students, as they get closer to graduation, involved in some apprenticeship programs with some of our industries here.
That would allow our students to have the opportunity to have a high-paying job, when they graduate if they don’t plan on going to college.
School Performance ✏️
We have excellent facilities. We have some of the best teachers around. When we have have our auditors that come in from Montgomery to assess the school system every year, they’re amazed at the facilities and the programs and the enrichment activities that we have going on at Lanett City Schools.
They’re even quoted as saying, ‘Lanett City Schools is one of the best-kept secrets in Alabama.’ It shouldn’t be a secret. We should really be praising the efforts and the programs taking place at Lanett City Schools.
The financial stability of Lanett City Schools is awesome; it’s great. They have been frugal with money as it’s coming in. We have a new stadium that’s being completed. It’s being paid for completely with monies that come in and using different programs. We don’t owe anybody on that. That is going to enrich our footprint for the area. We’re the only 2A school system that has a turf field; the other fields are going to be updated as well.
I hope you will consider ME on August 26th. Give me the opportunity to continue working for D3!
