Sisterhood To End Breast Cancer Disparity formerly known as Supporting Our Sisters International (SOSI) are to eliminate income, education, and health disparities in breast cancer care for women within underserved communities. Sisterhood To End Breast Cancer Disparity formerly known as Supporting Our Sisters International (SOSI) was created to improve continuum care for women of color and underser

ved communities. Beginning locally with an eye to growing globally, our aim is to build relationships with innovators in the healthcare space to help reduce breast cancer mortality. Founded by Madeline Long, a breast cancer survivor, advocate, and serial entrepreneur; SOSI is a positive disruptor in the breast cancer space that takes necessary tools and resources directly to communities of need, facilitating genetic testing, patient navigation, diagnostics and screenings. Madeline's commitment and dedication to advocacy, community health and outreach began in 1995 after the death of a family member, who, at age of 54, passed away due to complications from breast cancer. In 2011, Madeline's mother (Josephine Long) and aunt (Mary Gabourell) were diagnosed with breast cancer shortly before Madeline received her diagnosis. While helping her mother get through her treatment program, she noticed the lack of support services available in their community. In 2013, she founded SOSI as a survivorship organization which focuses on saving lives by going beyond simple awareness to empower, educate and inspire women around the world to lead a hopeful and normal life.

Good Morning My Pink Sisters! Yesterday I had the pleasure of hiking through Patapsco Valley State Park for Hike For A Cure! I was concerned because in April I sustained a life changing injury. It left me questioning my physical abilities and fearful. Well not only did I do it but this morning I went back into the gym for the first time since the incident! So this message is for that sister that’s feeling like she can’t do it. WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS US!

PS: If you noticed when I went in to the gym the sun was peeking through but when I left the sun was shining brightly! It means THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN!💕 Thanks again Kia for hosting the event! All it takes is one step😉🙌🏼

Our Story

Supporting Our Sisters International (SOSI) founded by Madeline “MAD” Long, a survivorship organization was created to improve continuum care among African American & Hispanic breast cancer survivors. The goal of the organization is to reduce breast cancer mortality for African Americans & Hispanics survivors by focusing on access, research and health education for survivors. Madeline established SOSI after many years of direct services as a training instructor for public assistance recipients, a homicide minister, domestic & sexual violence advocate, and a volunteer of 12 years with the St. Louis affiliate of Susan G. Komen Foundation. She served as President of Sisters Network Prince George’s County, an affiliate of Sisters Network Inc. These coupled experiences helped her understand the importance of health equity for all breast cancer survivors. Under her leadership the awesome executive team of Sisters Network Prince George’s County reached over 10,000 people in less than 2 years through community health programs, workshops and medical screening participation. SOSI has joined forces with survivors, family, friends, healthcare providers, researchers, community stakeholders, faith-based communities, and national organizations to create informative change within the breast cancer movement. SOSI believes we must support one another if we are to be the change. It will take all hands on deck to prevent and save lives!
