On the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there is no doubt that the resolve of the Ukrainian people is unwavering. They may be weary of war. We can debate how and way this war started. But after two years and enduring much hardship the Ukrainian people see this is there best opportunity to be a sovereign nation. May God honor their sacrifice.

Dr. Russell in his weekly devotional discusses a passage from the Book of Job. We deal with the suffering of others but are surprised when suffering comes knocking on our door to us and to our family. As healthcare workers we can easily become discouraged and overwhelmed. Let us remember to trust in the One who perfectly knows the outcome of every situation.

Healthcare professionals, especially in rehabilitation, focus on restoring physical function. They do lots of good for patients. But, then trouble comes and attitudes change. Shouldn't our focus be back on God and serving those He brings to us?

Attitude is everything. We all can easily recognize when someone is having a bad day. We all have them but when your bad days outnumber your good days there is a problem. We need to adjust our attitude or find another profession. As Dr. Russell indicates let us remember there is more to caring for patients than restoring physical health. We serve like Christ in order to give people true hope.

Healthcare has plenty of challenges for those who work there. It is a difficult place to labor if you do not have a calling. If this is your field, how do you handle this? Even when the going gets tough, do you want to keep going? Here is a model for how to have that "want to" attitude.

Some of you are looking forward to retiring from your everyday work. But Dr. Jeff Russell in this week's devotional continues the story from 2 Timothy. Our first priority is to glorify God in whatever we are called to do no matter what your age. From spiritual activity no where in the Bible do I read retire. In fact, I don't think I have found a scriptural basis for retirement from regular work unless one is unable. So I agree with Dr. Russell, we are not done until we are really done. As he alludes in this weeks writing.

Each of us has the opportunity to serve others and to use all the gifts, talents, and connections God gives us throughout our life. How are you accomplishing this? Are you content to just relax until your time on earth is done, or are you finding ways to continue encouraging and serving others until...

The amount of time to serve on this earth both God and mankind is an unknown. May we all use both the time and talents God has given us for His glory and to benefit others. Investing in developing relationships with others that will produce eternal life saving healing. We should all want to hear the words, "Well done good and faithful servant at the end of our journey in this world.

We are called to serve others. What does that look like? Well, by the end of our lives we should be depleted, flat, and used up, just like an intravenous bag that has given all of its fluid for the benefit of a patient. Read about that process in today's E-KardíaGram.
