Our beloved dog, Rex, went to be with his brother Tigger today. He died and will be buried at Nuru Ya Mapendo today. Nuru was his home for nearly 14 yrs. When you have a working dog, you appreciate not only their love but the sacrifice they gave for their work. Rex was a shepherd mix and herded chickens & goats at NYM. He worked during the night with security and prevented many entries onto our property , both people & animals. He was extremely intelligent and knew many words/commands in multiple languages. He is loved, missed and will always be treasured.

For now, we will not be replacing our dogs. We need a little time to grieve. Rex, I'm sure you'll find a crow or chicken to chase. Say hello to Tigger for me; I love you.

The septic tanks are finished and the partitions/walls are almost finished at the Mfuta School. We're making progress, even though the exchange rate changed and has slowed our progress (required another $300). Thank you for giving to Nuru Ya Mapendo which makes a difference to so many in the District of Kasenga.

Construction has started on the toilet building at the Mfuta school, 1 hr from Kasenga.It doesn't sound exciting, but imagine if you were a student last year and had only 1 toilet for the whole school! They are very happy 😁

Important News from NYM!
After many years, the DRC govt is finally working to recognize all the new schools in the Distr of Kasenga we have constructed. Once verified, teachers can be paid their government stipend/salaries. Please pray for this effort to be completed so our schools, teachers and students will be successful. Thank you!

We've been protecting our walls at NYM while big machines grade & pack the road! The road was widened, our electricity poles relocated- and calm has returned.

What a mess! But the children loved it, because they never see machines like this in our area..
