We've begun stacking bricks at the Mukilika School site! It will take many trips to have the needed 28,000.

Our Tundra, bicycles, and hired trucks are all making the necessary trips.

Did you know that bricks in our area weigh 10 lbs each and are about 4 times the size of American bricks??!

The District Superintendent was beyond excited this week! Bwalya, our manager, went to tell him we were going to begin buying bricks for the school building in Mukilika. We began negotiating the price for the bricks, but weren't achieving the desired result. The DS was so excited to begin the work that he continued negotiating the price on behalf of the church & got a better price! (The price of a brick also includes transport to the building site.) For many years, Nuru Ya Mapendo repaired & built churches so they could function properly in the Kasenga District.

Now, we are building schools so children can have an education & teachers can have jobs. Another advantage is that we can offer religion classes for all ages.

In 6th grade all students have the opportunity to learn to use the Bible. When they pass their final exam, they are given their very own Bible to take home & use in grades 7-12. They are also given the opportunity to accept Jesus as Lord.

In 2026, we'll be building our FOURTH school in the district! We've been raising funds, and there remains only $5000 until we can begin construction.

Our beloved dog, Rex, went to be with his brother Tigger today. He died and will be buried at Nuru Ya Mapendo today. Nuru was his home for nearly 14 yrs. When you have a working dog, you appreciate not only their love but the sacrifice they gave for their work. Rex was a shepherd mix and herded chickens & goats at NYM. He worked during the night with security and prevented many entries onto our property , both people & animals. He was extremely intelligent and knew many words/commands in multiple languages. He is loved, missed and will always be treasured.

For now, we will not be replacing our dogs. We need a little time to grieve. Rex, I'm sure you'll find a crow or chicken to chase. Say hello to Tigger for me; I love you.
