Today was the first day of our free clothing setup for 100 low-income seniors in the Village of Lancaster, and it was a wonderful day!
A HUGE shout-out to MaryJane and Darlene for all the time and effort they put into sorting clothes and getting everything on the racks. We appreciate you both!
There were so many smiling faces today, but one conversation really stayed with me.
Meet Miss Caralee! ❤️
I just had to ask her why in the world she was wearing that particular hat. She laughed and told me she likes a lot of teams, but she LOVES Buffalo! Of course, I had to ask if I got her a Buffalo Bills hat, would she give up the one she was wearing.
Her answer? “I sure would!”
That little conversation turned into something much more. We started talking about her life, and she shared some wonderful memories.
Miss Caralee told me about watching the Bills at the Rockpile, sitting on her brother’s shoulders because she was so little back then. She said she missed those days.
Then we got talking about her career as a teacher, and she shared a story that made me laugh.
She said her students used to shoot spitballs at her, leaving them all over the classroom floor. One day, she told them that anyone who shot a spitball at her or in her classroom should expect her to show up at their house for dinner.
They didn’t believe her.
One evening, Miss Caralee rang the doorbell at a student’s home. The father answered and asked why she was there.
Her response?
“Well, sir, your son invited me to dinner!”
… and she stayed for that dinner. Needless to say, her classroom remained spitball-free for the rest of the school year.
I could have spent the entire day listening to her stories.
And that’s what struck me today. Yes, we are collecting and providing clothes, shoes, coats, and hygiene products for seniors who need them. Those things are important, and we are grateful to everyone helping us make them available.
But the conversation matters just as much.
Taking a few minutes to ask someone a question, listen to their stories, laugh together, and learn a little about their life can mean more than we realize. Everyone has a story, and sometimes all it takes is someone willing to stop and listen.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and continues to donate. Your generosity helps us meet real needs in our community, and we appreciate every single one of you.

Ok folks- a lot of requests for our updated list for our SENIORS.
Please, we ask kindly, if you are choosing to donate ONLY DONATE the requested items. We do not have the space to store items we cannot use.
Specific items needed:
SOCKS (men’s and women’s ABOVE THE ANKLE)
Men’s and women’s underwear, ALL SIZES (new only please)
WINTER COATS MENS AND WOMENS - many asking for winter coats as they are able to sit outside in the cooler months.
MENS CLOTHING - ALL SIZES
THE ONLY SIZE WOMENS WE CAN TAKE RIGHT NOW IS 🔅MEDIUM🔅
Please, no other women’s size clothing unless it’s socks, underwear or winter coats - or BILLS CLOTHING.
ANY BILLS WEAR. Any sizes, male or female, hats included.
We are also looking for a small crossbody purse.

Please note, and this is extremely important, clothing should be STAIN FREE, no rips or tears and zippers in working order. Please, this is as much about dignity as it is clothing.

Items may also be dropped in the drop bin in the hallway of the moose during the hours of 3 pm and 8 pm daily.
