Mental Health Monday: What helps YOU feel connected?

Connection is an important part of mental wellness, but it looks different for everyone.

In Rise Above, we explore how creativity, relationships, and trusted support can help us feel heard, understood, and connected.

What works best for you?

🎨 Expressing yourself through art, music, or writing
đź’¬ Talking with friends or peers
🤝 Connecting with a trusted adult or mentor
🌱 Learning new coping skills

There's no one right way to find connection.

Drop your answer in the comments, send us a DM, or share with someone who helps you feel supported!

Your voice helps us create spaces where young people feel they belong.

History is complex—but healing begins when we face it with courage and honor.

Today, we pause to reflect on both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day—two observances that tell very different stories about our nation’s past and present. We recognize the resilience and wisdom of Native communities whose traditions remind us that true wellness comes from connection—to family, nature, and one another.

Across the U.S., progress is growing: four states now allow Medicaid to cover traditional Indigenous healing practices—a meaningful step toward honoring holistic care. Learn More: https://ow.ly/fNRo50X9s6m

At Touchstone Foundation, we believe in that same whole-person approach.
Through Caring, Collaboration, Advocacy, and Visibility, we’re working to build a Lancaster County where every young person can experience mental wellness grounded in community and hope.

Let’s continue reframing the story—together.

🎉 Please join us in welcoming Calle Lamarche to the Touchstone Foundation team!

Calle is a senior Public Health major at Franklin & Marshall College, bringing a passion for youth mental wellness, community health, and understanding how supportive environments can help young people thrive.

As our newest Program Intern, Calle will support our Rise Above program through program evaluation, data analysis, and hands-on experience exploring the impact of youth mental wellness initiatives.

Growing up in rural Maine helped shape her interest in healthcare accessibility and the importance of community resources. Now, she's excited to bring that perspective to Lancaster County while learning more about mental health advocacy and helping young people build confidence in their well-being.

Outside of her studies, Calle enjoys hiking, creating art, and trying new recipes with her roommates!

Rise Above students—here’s another chance to use your creativity and your voice.

The conversations about mental health and su***de prevention don’t have to stop when our sessions end.

The Prevent Su***de PA Youth Su***de Prevention PSA Contest invites middle school and high school Pennsylvania students to create a message that can help spread hope, awareness, and support to other young people.

🎨 Create a digital poster
🎥 Produce a 30–60 second video
🗣️ Share a message that matters to YOU

Think about what you’ve explored through Rise Above: hope, connection, advocacy, mental wellness, asking for help, and supporting others. How could you turn one of those ideas into something another young person needs to see or hear?

Submissions are due January 8, 2027.

Keep creating. Keep talking. Keep advocating.

Ever have one bad thought turn into a whole story in your head?

“I’m going to mess this up.”
“Everyone is judging me.”
“I’m not good enough.”

For Mental Health Monday, try challenging the thought instead of letting it take over.

1. Catch it:
What am I telling myself?

2. Question it:
Is this a fact—or is this what I’m afraid might happen?

3. Reframe it:
“I might not get everything right, but I can prepare, ask for help, and try.”

Challenging negative thoughts isn’t about pretending everything is okay. It’s about making room for another possibility.

What’s one thought you could challenge today?
