Dear Readers,
I’m thrilled to invite you to a special event at Fivesparks on Sunday, November 3rd, from 4 to 5:30 PM. This gathering promises to be lots of fun, and hopefully, informative, too. I’d love for you to be a part of it.
At this event, I’ll be sitting down with longtime Harvard resident Lucy Wallace for a conversation about my sixth novel, The Means of Keeping. This book is a special novel for me as it explores deep themes of grief, friendship, and the profound impact climate change can have on both a personal and global scale.
The Means of Keeping follows the lives of two lifelong friends, Tereza Allard and David Luca, who are navigating unimaginable loss after a climate crisis-induced tragedy. As they search for renewal and meaning, their journey becomes a reflection of the broader struggles we face in our world today—a world grappling with environmental and human challenges.
During the event, Lucy and I will dive into these themes, and I’ll share insights into my writing process and how the story came to life. I also look forward to an engaging discussion with you, whether you’ve already read the book or are just discovering it. If you’d like to pick up a copy ahead of time, you can purchase The Means of Keeping at Fivesparks, The Harvard General Store, Amazon, or Audible. A portion of the sales at Fivesparks, fifty percent, will support their wonderful programs.
It would mean a great deal to me to have you there, sharing this time together in the historic Fivesparks building. I look forward to connecting with you—whether you’re a longtime reader or new to my work—and discussing my climate story.
Warmly,
Rich Marcello
