Master Artisan Tameria Martinez of Tameria Martinez Clay uses porcelein and "wild" stoneware clay that she fires in her train-style wood burning kiln for 48 hours and then has to wait a week to see the results.

"The strength, and delicate properties of porcelain draw me into the seductive nature of material, allowing the potential to create forms of grace. Wild stoneware adds an element of surprise due to variations in the clay body itself. Wood firing allows the movement of the flame and ash to mark the pots giving each a unique depth of surface," Tameria says.

The PA Guild of Craftsmen Fall Fine Craft Fair this weekend at the Philly Expo Center also features some wonderful fine art as well as the fine craft we are known for! So if you're in the market for some wall art, be sure to come visit the show, where we have everything from linocut printmaking to painted pyrography to beautiful landscapes and gorgeous watercolors. And so much more!

Artist James Jamitis of JJ Wood Sculpture creates wood sculptures of wildlife and marine life using hand and power tools on a variety of wood species. He also creates abstract pieces, whimsical characters, tikis, and wood spirits.

"I believe that whether it’s a freshly milled piece of exotic timber, a weathered piece of driftwood, or something salvaged from an old barn, a piece of wood is often already a work of art in itself," he says.

Join us on Friday, October 23 at 6 pm for our Bezel Set Rings class with Master Artisan, Jessica Keemer!

In this engaging and creative workshop, students will explore the art of fabricating their own bezel set rings, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. Participants will have access to a variety of freeform semi-precious cabochons to use as the centerpiece of their designs. The class will cover essential techniques of metalsmithing, including creating a custom bezel, soldering, stamping, texturizing, and polishing, ensuring a well-rounded introduction to jewelry-making.

Each ring will be crafted from sterling silver, and all materials are provided as part of the tuition. This workshop is a wonderful opportunity for beginners and enthusiasts alike to develop new skills and create a personalized piece to cherish.
