"I believe jewelry should go well beyond special occasions," Christine says. "A beaded scarf looks as great with a little black dress as a pair of jeans."

Join Henry Gepfer at the Guild on Saturday, September 5 for our Little Letterpress workshop! Engage with the historic process of letterpress printing on a very small (3 x5) platen press. This once-industrial process has been embraced by artists in the past few decades and is a great tool for fine artists, designers and hobbyists alike.

In this course, you’ll learn the basic anatomy of a table-top platen press, how to prepare the press, compose and set type and print a small-format idea on a 3” x 5” size or smaller – think postcard, calling card or business card size! This class is a low-pressure introduction to letterpress for anyone who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty.

He sometimes adds semi-precious gemstones or dyes or paints, but mostly he allows the natural colors and grains of wood to speak for themselves.

"Mother Nature is the true artist," Scott says. "I just work with what she gives me."

Learn the basics of rug hooking and make a beautiful Harvest Moon Raven with Juliana Kapusta on Saturday, September 12!

The historic art of traditional hand hooked rugs has been admired since colonial times. Like many forms of art, hooked rugs were made out of necessity, utilizing scraps and upcycling. By pulling up one loop at a time you can create a beautiful 8” by 8” heirloom textile. No prior experience is necessary.
