Recently, Kaylene had the chance to sit down with a listening group from one of our current SCI cohorts.

One student shared that what began with the question, “How is this going to work?” became a community she has grown to deeply care about.

In many parts of life, we naturally gather with people who are similar to us. But over nearly two years together, this group has discovered the richness that can come from being present with people of different ages, experiences, and seasons of life, with Christ at the center.

Listening groups are one part of SCI’s two-year journey of learning to care for our own souls and the souls of others. Over time, students practice listening well, being present, and growing in relationship with God and one another.

2027 cohorts are forming now in Colorado, North Carolina, and Michigan.

Adele and Doug Calhoun, faculty members with Soul Care Institute, recently shared what they believe is one of the most valuable parts of the SCI experience. For two years, you journey alongside a group of people who come to know you, care for you, and walk with you as you deepen your relationship with God.

We have seen what can happen when people are given the space to slow down and pay attention to God’s presence. When people encounter God in new and meaningful ways, healing takes place.
