💔 At 10 years old, this precious boy has lost the only family he has ever known. Now he needs someone to give him a reason to believe that life can still be good.
His name is Trump. And before anyone feels the need to make unkind comments about his name, please don't. That is the name his owner gave him, and that's that. This post is about a dog who has lost his person and needs our help. ❤️
His lifelong owner recently passed away, and through no fault of his own, this sweet senior is now looking for a new home. He has been with the same family since he was a puppy. Ten years of familiar faces, familiar routines, and knowing exactly where he belonged. Now, everything has changed.
We want to help find him a home without putting him through the frightening experience of a shelter. At his age, he deserves comfort, patience, and a soft place to land while he adjusts to a world that suddenly looks very different.
This boy is well cared for, neutered, vaccinated, regularly seen by his veterinarian, and professionally groomed every eight weeks. He is completely housebroken, sleeps in a crate at night, and even knows a few tricks!
He is good with children and people of all ages. He gets excited when someone approaches the door and wants to be the first to greet them. Think of him as your own personal doorbell! He is a strong dog at ~80lbs, who pulls some on a leash, but consistent walks and patience may help him improve.
One of the sweetest things about him? He loves being close to people. He leans into them, touches them, and wants to be loved on. 🥺
He also enjoys other dogs and wants to play with them, although he hasn't spent a great deal of time living alongside other dogs. Proper introductions will be important.
We know 10 years old isn't a puppy. We know some people will scroll right past him because they want a dog they can have for many years to come.
But please think about what it means to be a senior dog who has known one family his entire life, only to lose the person he loved and depended on. He didn't do anything wrong. He didn't become less deserving of love. He is simply an older boy who needs someone to give him another chance.
He doesn't need someone to give him his first home. He needs someone willing to give him another one.
Someone who will let him settle in at his own pace. Someone who will welcome his excited greetings at the door. Someone who will let him lean against them and remind him that he is still wanted, still loved, and still part of a family.
Please, if you have room in your heart and home for a senior dog, consider opening your life to this sweet boy. He has spent 10 years being someone's companion. We would love nothing more than to help him find someone who will make sure his golden years are filled with the same love and security he has always known.
If you are interested in adopting him, please visit JessamineHumaneSociety.org → Services → Adoptions to submit an application.
He is currently staying with a foster, so please do not show up to meet him. An application is the first step, and we will help coordinate next steps for approved applicants.
If you cannot adopt, please share his story. His person is gone, and he needs someone new to choose him. 💔
Let's show this sweet senior that losing his first family doesn't mean he has to spend the rest of his life without one.
