We cannot wait for our communities to meet our new program facilitators. Please help us welcome Denise Bender, who will be facilitating Roots, our leadership program at School District of Lancaster!

Denise was a classroom teacher for 24 years, with a marketing and management degree from Penn State and a post-baccalaureate cert in elementary education from Millersville University.

She wants every young person to know the power of healthy choices and looks forward to helping to increase both their available tools and confidence to do so. She likes to use movement and activities to motivate students.

Denise recently became a "Gigi" and can be found caring for her grandson weekly!

Today, we're at the Hope, Health & Opportunities Fair at the Garden Court Apartments in Lancaster! Letisha, our Families Forward coordinator, and Mary Glazier of Ambassadors for Hope collaborate to support children impacted by incarceration.

Ambassadors provides funding for our Build a Bears, which we deliver to children with parents in Lancaster County Prison. The bears have recordings of their parent's voice inside, to provide steady comfort to their children.

Teri & Vanessa* spoke to school social workers at Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 this morning on youth va**ng of both ni****ne and THC/marijuana. They discussed how it impacts the adolescent brain, worsens mental health, and increases the risks for developing a substance use disorder later in life.

These 5th & 6th graders have varying types of leadership potential - from quiet strength to exuberance - and will develop their skills over 12 weeks as they create a service project to benefit their school or community.

Look for their progress as they decide on a project, propose it to school administrators, implement it, and finally, celebrate it with their families!

Our addiction prevention programs have such a big impact because our staff work alongside families & communities to build strengths & protections in young people. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐳, 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐦 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡'𝐬 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝!

In addition to her prevention specialist duties, Gabby offered to assist Letisha of our Families Forward program by preparing Build a Bears for drop off at homes of children with a parent in prison.

Not only did she help out in a pinch, but as she was one of our very first interns in the Families Forward program, she was able to fill Letisha in on the addition of Build a Bears (with voice recordings of a parent's voice tucked inside) to our program. It turns out Gabby made one of the first deliveries to a child impacted by incarceration and has watched our services grow over the years. 🐻🐻🐻

Gabriella's care for young people is very apparent. We're grateful to have her on our team, teaching social & emotional skills to students and impacting their futures! Help us congratulate her on this recognition. 🌻
