Goldsmith, Ledell Steele, Barto Robinson, Dewitt Plyler, Angus Haggins, Harold R**e, Tom Myers, Carl Mullis and George Phillips. Planning meetings began in a building across from the Ellen Dean Hotel; other meetings were held at the Buckelew Farm at Belltown. In 1953, the meetings were moved to Buckelew Park where a building was donated by the Buckelew Family to the Shriners. A deed was issued and
chartered under the name of Jackson Shrine Club Realty Company later to be changed to Jackson Realty Company. All shares of stock were bought by Jackson Shrine Club members and Jackson Realty Company members. In 1959, land was purchased by the Jackson Realty Company at the present location. The members moved into the present building in 1962. This building has been remodeled twice in the past 40 years. In 1988 the members of the Jackson Shrine Club bought all shares of the stock from the Jackson Realty Company. Then the land and building were donated to the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC. The Jackson Shrine Club is proud to have supported three of its members as Potentate to serve Hejaz Temple. George Phillips served in 1964, Ledell Steele in 1970 and Gary Parsons in 2013. Lancaster County has provided several coaches for the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Harry Lee (1941), Tom McConnell (1949), Wade Corn (1958), Johnny Roscoe (1990) and Mike Wells (20120) served as assistant coaches. Johnny Roscoe served as the head coach in 2001 for the South Carolina team. Jackson Shrine Club has been successful in fundraising opportunities such as charity rides, give-away dinners in addition to participating in the fundraising events through the Temple like onion sale, candy sale. One of the most successful fundraisers is the annual fish fry and catfish stew. This has become a tradition for many Lancaster County residents since 1955.
